~ Asmodeus.exe mocking Beelzebub.exe. |
Asmodeus.exe is an antagonist in Daniel Mullin's connecting series. He's the third boss and secondary antagonist of the video game Pony Island, and a minor antagonist in The Hex. He, along with the other daemons, is one of Lucifer's creations made to protect the core file from deletion; guarding the last system core-file of the game. He claims to have a rather "sophisticated" A.I than the other daemons, specifically targeted at Beelzebub.exe for having a cheap, generic boss fight.
Like Azazel.exe and Beelzebub.exe, he has his own unique boss mechanic—a test of attentiveness and intelligence.
Biography[]
Pony Island[]
Way before the events of Pony Island, Satan originally had Buer.exe protect the third core file, but overtime replaced him with Asmodeus. The two apparently greatly resent each other, and when met Buer.exe will tell the player to remind Asmodeus of his name as he intends to exact revenge on Asmodeus.
Found in Act III, once the player activates him, he reveals that he has been anticipating the player. He will start off by playing a game with you— one that he has never lost, which may mean the player is not the first tor each him. He asks that you keep your eyes on him. Looking away, shift-tabbing or answering a question incorrectly is an automatic lose, as it have him say along the lines of "YOU LOSE." as he reaches out of the screen to grab you.
He will begin asking you a handful of questions. Each of Asmodeus.exe's questions will slowly become more trickier as it goes on, including:
- Saying his name. While this is an obvious one, you have the option to say Buer.exe's name after running into him in Act II's free-roam Adventure Mode at the bottom right corner of the map. This will prompt a small yet unique dialogue from Asmodeus.exe himself.
- Saying something disgusting/vile. There are no wrong answers for this one. After answering, a fake Steam message pop-up from someone in your Steam Friends list will begin spamming you the following:
- "lol"
- "[your answer]?"
- "did someone hacked you?"
- "hello?"
- "ANSWER ME MORTAL"
- "PATHETIC FOOL"
It should be noted that these fake messages only serve as a distraction only, while you're supposed to be paying attention to Asmodeus.exe as he begins his next question:
- A phrase. After the fake messages cease, type the phrase that Asmodeus.exe was talking about while someone is fake-messaging you in the middle of it. "INFERNAL" is the answer.
- The animal that appears more commonly in this game. The answer is very obvious as it is "PONY". Asmodeus.exe will continue rambling on how ponies are friendly, carefree and "unburdened by intellect". At that very moment, his name under him quickly changes for a second, which comes to the next question:
- What was written under his name? His name immediately flashes to "REMEMBERTHIS" as he rambles about ponies, which is the correct answer here.
- The number of the beast. He will ask you to type "666", but at that very moment again, his name quickly changes to "actually type 777". "777" is the correct answer.
Afterwards, Asmodeus.exe will compliment you on how you have a "phenomenal" ability to follow instructions, but will question on how well your memory is. He will then begin the final question:
- Remember this sequence. "2023" is the sequence Asmodeus.exe asks you to remember. Before you type out the last digit, the screen will turn slightly white with a message that says "Ponyisland.exe is not responding". Click on the "Wait for Program to respond" button, and wait until the screen goes back to normal. Asmodeus.exe will wink at you and lets you type the fourth number down.
After answering all questions correctly, Asmodeus.exe will praise you on how adequate you are as he lets you delete the core file, accepting his demise with pride and disappears without a trace.
The Hex[]
Asmodeus.exe makes a cameo in The Hex. He can be found after the player follows a certain set of steps. First, the player must fight the Mimic Slime behind the Ancient Temple and obtain its mimic charm. Draining its mana is the easiest way to beat it as it is utterly weak without any. Then, the player must find a secret encounter to the far left of the entrance to the Western Volcano. The player will battle the Missingno, of which can have its abilities stolen by the charm. It can only be fought once, which is why it's best the player doesn't encounter it until they've obtained the mimic charm.
Then, by using the mimic charm, the player will obtain a glitchy ability of which its description will be cluttered with the repeated word "ENTERVALE" in binary. When used in battle, Asmodeus.exe will reach out at the screen and crash the game, unlocking an achievement. When reopened, the ability will be gone and replaced. It's unknown if this secret has an implications lore-wise regarding Asmodeus himself as it's one of the many possible crashes in the game.

Trivia[]
- Saying Buer.exe's name to Asmodeus.exe will prompt new dialogue, as he'll remember Buer.exe's name, irritated about how "that old fool" is still around, and ask the player where they heard the name from.
- Buer.exe can be found in Act II's Adventure Mode at the bottom right corner of the map. When encountered, he'll explain how he was once a guardian of the core file Asmodeus.exe is guarding, and how he "took his seat as guardian". Buer.exe will then ask the player a favor to say his name to Asmodeus.exe once they reach him, threatening Asmodeus.exe that he will know "vengeance approaches.", meaning that Buer.exe will find and kill him out of revenge.
- In addition to this, the developer of the game Daniel Mullins originally planned to have Asmodeus.exe be replaced by Buer.exe after the player types "BUER" to Asmodeus.exe, however this has been scrapped due to higher priorities. Regardless, this could potentially be added as a free update or DLC.
- Asmodeus.exe is the only daemon to appear again. Showing up as a secret Easter egg in The Hex, a game made by the same developer.
