Abraxas (real name: Jalen) is the main antagonist of the 2010 action adventure game, Tron: Evolution. He is a living, walking, computer virus that seeks to corrupt the entire Grid with his infection, in actuality, he is secretly being used by CLU 2 to erradicate things in The Grid (such as the ISOs) that he views as blights and imperfections.

He was voiced by John Glover, who would go on to voice Dyson in Tron: Uprising.

Appearance[]

It's unknown what Jalen looked like prior to his corruption as he never appears in his uninfected form on screen.

As Abraxas, he appears tall and thin with an almost sickly appearance, he wears a black cloak with hood and a helmet covering his face while the light circuitry on his body and cloak is yellow with a cracked appearance, adding to his sickly appearance.

Personality[]

It's unknown what Jalen's personality was prior to his corruption, but it can be assumed with how programs speak highly of him that he was kind and meant well.

As Abraxas, he is ruthless and takes pride in what he has become, with his one true goal to cause destruction to everything and everyone he encounters, before his final fight with Anon however, it's implied there is some shed of Jalen left within him that only desires to be freed from his suffering, as well as to take revenge on the one who inflicted this pain to begin with.

Powers and Abilities[]

Abraxas is extremely agile, being able to move incredibly quick as well as jump long distances, he is also skilled in all manner of combat with Discs being able to counter stronger and even more unexpected attacks than his own. Abraxas also possesses the ability to teleport by melding his code into infected patches, allowing him to travel quickly between them to better keep up with his enemies and prey. Abraxas is shown to also be exceptionally strong and quick on the draw, as shown when he effortlessly picked up Gibson by the neck and later tossed him aside, or when he effortlessly tore through CLU and Radia's guards as he made his way towards the former at the beginning of the game.

However, Abraxas' most defining ability is that he can infect anyone and anything with his virus just by simply touching them, creating harmful patches of corruption on surfaces of the Grid and turning any programs he corrupts into feral monstrosities.

Biography[]

Past[]

Jalen was once an ISO who was given extensive knowledge of "users" by Kevin Flynn and, along with Radia. Jalen also competed in the Games winning his way through the tournament before it was discovered he was an ISO, after which he was disqualified. However CLU allowed Jalen back into the tournament, which he then won, gaining him the admiration of both Basics and ISOs alike. CLU then, in secret, gave Jalen an "upgrade" to his Identity Disc. Jalen soon discovered CLU's sinister plans, but before he could warn people, CLU activated the "upgrade" within Jalen's Disc which, in actuality, was a destructive virus that twisted and corrupted his programming into a living form of the virus which also effectively erased all of the memories of his past life, at this point Jalen ceased to exist, and only the genocidal Abraxas remained with CLU covering up the whole incident by officially claiming that Jalen had died in the arena.

Tron: Evolution[]

Abraxas is first seen during CLU and Radia's speech about uniting ISOs and Basics, where he interrupts the speech and attacks multiple programs, corrupting them before he attempts to attack CLU but is stopped by Anon who then covers CLU and Radia as they get to a safe distance. Anon and Abraxas exchange blows with Abraxas also summoning corrupted programs to fight for him as Anon stands his ground and continues to fight them off. The fight ultimately ends when Anon supercharges his disc and throws it at Abraxas, who manages to block it, but has a piece of his own disc chipped off in the process before attempting one last attack before fleeing as CLU takes the chipped off part of Abraxas' disc to "study" it as Anon is tasked with tracking down and destroying Abraxas. Anon then began tracking Abraxas following the trail of infected parts of the grid and fighting of the infected husks of the programs that were unfortunate enough to cross Abraxas' path. However during his pursuit, he witnesses CLU turn on Flynn and Tron and eventually meets up with Quorra as the two make their way to Zuse's club and later to the solar sailor docks as Anon fights both CLU's forces and the programs that Abraxas has infected. Eventually arriving at Arjia City only to find that CLU has put out a warrant for Anon under the guise that he may have been infected by Abraxas. After the two separate to carry out different objectives, Quorra, to warn the other ISOs and Anon to locate an ISO named Gibson whom the former saw earlier in the club who knows Flynn's whereabouts but was arrested shortly after helping Flynn escape. Anon escapes from the city as CLU's forces continue to hunt him. Anon then infiltrates the Game Grid and locates Gibson and frees him only to be forced to fight in the games in Gibson's place. After Gibson saves Anon the two depart to the Bostrum Colony where Flynn is located. However soon after the two arrive and Gibson leaves to dispose of the Recognizer the two used to arrive, Anon discovers that the Colony was attacked by Abraxas with infected code all around and is soon after attacked by more infected programs that Anon dispatches. Eventually the two meet back up as they try to find Flynn and are attacked by more infected programs that the two are forced to destroy and the two separate again before meeting back up at the top of the Kernal. As the two spot CLU's warship in the nearby sky, Abraxas approaches behind them holding one of Gibson's comrades by his neck all before executing him. Gibson and Anon then began to run from Abraxas as he follows behind with his infection spreading throughout the colony as CLU's forces begin attacking the Colony before Abraxas chases Anon and Gibson into the Colony's energy reactor as the two begin to shut down the reactor to stop Abraxas from absorbing its energy. The two are successful, but then Abraxas breaks though the door forcing the two to flee as they run into some of CLU's forces, including Black Guards. After the two dispatch the enemies, they head through the canyon to try to get back to Arjia City as CLU's forces continue their attack. As the two ride along the canyon, Abraxas drops down in front of them with Gibson knocking Anon out of the way as his lightcycle is destroyed and he lands in front of Abraxas. Abraxas picks up Gibson by his neck and infects him with his virus, tossing him aside afterwards and leaving. Anon gets back up and looks around only to be attacked by the now infected Gibson who tackles him to the chamber below as Gibson begins to attack Anon and the two fight. All throughout the fight, Gibson fights back against the virus, giving Anon an opening to attack as the virus tries to take back control of him and his voice switches between his normal voice telling Anon to attack him with lines like "I can't hold it back much longer" ect. while the infection periodically takes over periodically yelling out "SPREAD THE PAIN!" whilst the virus makes Gibson invulnerable until Gibson creates an opening for Anon to attack. Gibson also gains a similar ability to Abraxas, being able to meld into infected energy lines to hide as infected programs are summoned to attack while Anon has to destroy the infected energy lines to weaken Gibson and continue attacking. After all of the energy lines are destroyed the virus is no longer able to protect Gibson's body to which Anon is able to attack with all of his strength. Ultimately Anon is forced to mercy kill Gibson and put him out of his misery as Anon continues onward. In Arjia City, Abraxas comes before CLU and Radia, as Abraxas tells her not to be afraid, she recognizes Abraxas as her fellow ISO Jalen. Horrified, Radia asks CLU what he did to Jalen, with CLU responding that he brought out Jalen's "true self" with Radia arguing that CLU turned Jalen into a perversion as CLU continues to taunt her before walking away as Abraxas executes her. CLU then orders his forces to level the city as Quorra gives chase and Anon faces Abraxas. In this fight Abraxas fights largely similar to his fight at the beginning of the game but now no longer jumps away to let his minions attack, he also now has the added ability to perform aerial slam attacks. After Anon damages him enough, Abraxas makes himself resistant to all of his attacks, however, at the same time, CLU's warship begins levelling the city, causing debris to begin to rain down that Anon has to lure Abraxas under in order to damage him. Ultimately Anon emerges victorious, however Abraxas' arm reaches out of the rubble before going limp, afterwards Abraxas is seemingly killed when the city is leveled by CLU as Anon attempts to escape from the collapsing city but is unable to. Luckly, however Anon is saved by Flynn, who tasks Anon with saving Quorra who has been captureed by CLU. Anon succeeds in infiltrating CLU's ship and located Quorra and CLU, after defeating the Black Guards protecting CLU, the two prepare to face off, however before they can, a Recognizer crashes into the ship, revealed to be flown by a still living Abraxas who Anon is then forced to face. Abraxas begins to absorb power from the ships power cores as Anon is forced to destroy them to weaken Abraxas and then damage him. Soon the power core fluctuating damages Abraxas enough that he soon begins to absorb the main power core's energy, overloading it in the process as CLU flees. Eventually the core begins to melt down as Anon makes his escape with Quorra as the warship explodes with Abraxas still connected to the core, finally bringing Jalen's suffering to an end.
