~ Rain to Kotal Kahn. |
Zefferro, better known as Rain, is a major antagonist of the Mortal Kombat franchise. He is the son of Argus and half-brother to Taven and Daegon, he is the self-appointed Prince of Edenia and a Demi-God. Rain is a treacherous schemer who is obsessively ambitious.
He was voiced by John Turk in Mortal Kombat 3, John Podlasek in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, an unknown voice actor in 2011's Mortal Kombat, Andrew Bowen in Mortal Kombat X, Dempsey Pappion in Mortal Kombat 11, and his New Era counterpart is voiced by Norshir Dalal in Mortal Kombat 1.
His Evil Ranking[]
His Villainous Deeds[]
Original Timeline[]
- He chose to join Shao Kahn after Edenia's invasion, choosing to betray his homeland and he even turned on Kitana.
- He tried to kill his half-brothers Taven and Daegon.
- He joins the Forces of Darkness but got killed in the Battle of Armageddon.
- In his non-canon MKA ending, when he defeated Blaze and became a full god, he uses his power to enslave Edenia.
Alternate Timeline[]
- He betrayed the Edenian Resistance and joined Shao Kahn.
- In his non-canon MK9 ending, after defeating Shao Kahn, he turned on Raiden, he uses Shao Kahn's army to enslave not just Outworld, but all realms including Earthrealm.
- He helped Goro kill Kotal Kahn.
- He along with Mileena and Tanya declare war against Kotal Kahn, starting a rebellion against him.
- He tried to kill Kotal Kahn himself.
- He with Tanya tried to kill Cassie Cage.
- In his non-canon MK11 ending (which was rendered canon thanks to MK1 making all timelines canon), he drowned Argus, Taven and Daegon but let Delia live so he can leave her to weep over the death of her family just like his mother did.
Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- Despite killing thousands of people, betraying people and his homeland, he still massively fails the heinous standards.
- He is a well-intentioned extremist and an anti-villain as he wanted to free Edenia.
- He is genuinely tragic because he had to watch Edenia get enslaved by Shao Kahn and was smuggled away from his mother, showing he genuinely cares about his mother and was genuinely saddened by her death which are sympathetic reasons why he betrayed his homeworld and many people, joined Shao Kahn, and tried to kill Argus (who lied to Amara), his wife Delia, and his half-brothers Taven and Daegon.
- He is shown to have standards since he is enraged by Mileena's deception of impersonating Kitana which was why he betrayed her and Tanya, Sindel killing her husband Jerrod. He was also unnerved and disgusted by Argus hiding identities and denying birth rights, and he never hurts children as he doesn't try to kill them.
- He was genuinely affable to Kitana and the Edenian Resistance as he felt remorse for betraying them.
- He is a villain by proxy as his villainous deeds were forced by Shao Kahn, and in his MK11 intros with Shao Kahn, he considers the throne to belong to Kitana, proving he still respects her despite turning on her.
- He is a scapegoat because of Shao Kahn using him and he even turned against Shao Kahn because of it in his non-canon endings in UMK3 and MK9. He is also on & off as he does heroic deeds, he aligns with Earthrealm warriors on defeating Shao Kahn and ending his menace once and for all in his UMK3 ending.
- He presumably retires from villainy.
