Hank is a minor antagonist in the Gone series books Hunger and Lies. He was a friend of Zil Sperry and an enthusiastic member of the hate group, the Human Crew. Prior to an event that caused everyone over 15 to vanish, he was quiet, but this masked the deranged person he was underneath. Following the accidental death of Zil's roommate, Harry, after a fight with their mutated roommate, Hunter Leftkowitz, He immediately joined up in the group's efforts to make Hunter pay for what happened.

His Evil Ranking[]

His Villainous Deeds[]

Hunger[]

  • He joined Zil and Antoine in stealing Duck Zhang's pool while leaving him to clean it before attacking.
  • He and some other members of the Human Crew brutally interrogated Duck over the location of Hunter, forcing him to use his powers to escape.
  • Out of all of the Human Crew, he was most eager to have Hunter killed to the point where Zil believed Hank would murder Hunter himself if he didn't order it.
  • He and several other Human Crew members shot at and nearly killed Duck when he stumbled on their attempt to lynch Hunter.
  • He attacked and knocked out the 4-year-old boy, Little Pete.

Lies[]

  • He took part in Zil's plan to butcher all children in Perdido Beach with powers.
  • He organized the attack on the gas station and was confirmed to have killed one of Edilio's men and injured another despite Zil specifically not wanting casualties and not ordering him to fire.
  • He helped the Human Crew set a fire in Perdido Beach that destroyed several houses and left many injured, possibly killing some.
  • He shot at and nearly killed Sam Temple during his attempt to combat the Human Crew.
  • He was unfazed by his friend Antoine getting fatally injured by Sam and left him to die on the beach.
  • His death of being brutally murdered by Caine Soren was not played for sympathy and was more cathartic considering it was in response to the Human Crew betraying their temporary alliance with Caine.

Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]

  • While he certainly stands out as one of the more sadistic members of the Human Crew, he still fails the heinous standards of the Gone series to Zil Sperry, who led the Human Crew in setting the Perdido Beach fire, and Mary Terrafino, who attempted to kill the town’s preschoolers she was taking care of. Both of these characters had comparable resources to him in that they have no powers.
  • Out of all the Human Crew, he was easily the most loyal to Zil and tried to keep Zil's best interests in mind.
  • Although it wasn't confirmed if he was friends with Harry in the past, he seemed to genuinely want to avenge his death by killing Hunter.
  • It's revealed later on that he was raised by a drug-addict father who didn't even seem to care after his death, making him somewhat tragic.
