Meinster

The Meinster (マインスター, Mainsutā^?) are a family of pure-blooded Witches.^[1]

Characteristics[]

They are the descendants of Yumina, Magician of the First Magic.^[2] With Yumina as their origin, the Meinsters are very close to Magicians themselves. The manifestation of fables and other magic you would see in fairy-tales such as miracles, alterations and outcomes impossible to explain through existing Magecraft Foundations, are what form their motif. Protecting fantasies from the law of physics(order) and utilizing them through the means of the Fifth True Theoretical Factor(True Ether).^[3]

They control the Ploy Kickshaw, an application of the First Magic,^[4] and are considered heretics among other Magi.^[5] The Meinster Witches, could employ powerful “charms” that ignored not only the rules of human society, but even the rules of the World of Magecraft. However, ever since they learned how to create Ploy Kickshaws, they came to enjoy more mysterious witchery, allowing them to realize practically anything of a fairy-tale nature such as herbalism, shapeshiftery, three wishes, etc.^[3]

The Great Three of the Ploy Kickshaws—Flat Snark, Wandersnatch, and Thames Troll—were left behind by the first generation Witch^[6] over a thousand years ago.^[5]

While normally a Witch having a child with a Human will dilute their blood and rot their soul, the Meinsters are an exception said to be above the rules.^[7] However Alice Kuonji's mother is still said to have "broken the rules" when she married a human and had Alice.^[6]
