Plot[]
Raphael, Donatello and Leonardo wait not-so-patiently for Michelangelo to return from the rent-a-pet shop, where he selected a new pet. Unfortunately, he chose a destructive monkey named Clyde, who immediately destroys their pizza and swings from the light fixture. The other Turtles vote against keeping him.
Meanwhile, April is sent to investigate Mugsy McGuffin, a mob boss being released from state prison after fifteen years, in order to find out where he hid the Galoobie Ruby. Both she and Vernon are unsuccessful at getting the answer.
Michelangelo goes back to the rent-a-pet shop, and is offered a different pet instead of Clyde. He chooses a green parrot, not knowing that it is the beloved pet of Mugsy, Polly, who has the key to the Galoobie Ruby around its neck. He introduces Polly to the other Turtles as "Ditto," but the parrot proves to be as destructive as the monkey.
Mugsy, meanwhile, has figured out that he has the wrong parrot, and that Polly was taken by someone "with a green face." Even worse, the dilapidated hiding place of the Galoobie Ruby, the Bering Arms Hotel, is about to be demolished, so he's desperate to find his parrot. He calls April and offers her an interview, but Vernon sabotages her so he can scoop the story.
As the Turtles clean the lair, Michelangelo discovers the key, and Donatello decides to analyze it. The parrot's destructive streak continues as he continues eating the Turtles' personal possessions and trashing Donatello's lab, driving them to demand he be taken back to the pet shop.
Mugsy uses the "interview" to plaintively plead for the return of his pet, showing a picture that the Turtles recognize as Ditto. They immediate deduce that he wants the key back and why, and Raphael and Leonardo head off to stop Michelangelo from returning the bird. Michelangelo happens to see Mugsy on television as well, and Polly flies off when he hears the words "Galoobie Ruby," straight to the building where it's hidden.
Michelangelo almost makes it to the safe containing the ruby, but falls through several floors. Unfortunately the demolition explosives have been set with only fifteen minutes left.
Polly returns to the lair and alerts the Turtles to Michelangelo's location, but Mugsy captures the parrot while it's flying back to the about-to-be-destroyed building. Polly then eats the key. The Turtles rush into the Bering Arms Hotel and find Michelangelo buried in the debris, and the parrot helps them by pulling Michelangelo's grappling hook up to the other Turtles, allowing them to free him. The Turtles escape the building mere seconds before the old hotel explodes, destroying the Galoobie Ruby.
Mugsy is arrested once again, and the parrot is brought to the zoo to live, where he soon finds a lady parrot.
