Diesel is a magazine story.
Plot[]
One morning, Diesel is shunting his trucks very roughly. His driver warns him to be careful but Diesel does not care. The Fat Controller, however, reminds Diesel that he does care and sends him out on another job to stay out of causing mischief in the yard.
One job that the engines are not fond of is carrying heavy bricks from the brickworks. Diesel is given this job and complains but his trucks tell him that it serves him right. Diesel tries to get the trucks quiet by going fast over a sharp bend but the trucks still tease Diesel after his driver tells him to behave.
The trucks are soon filled to their tops at the brickworks and Diesel struggles his hardest to make his way down the line with the heavy load. He soon gets a naughty idea. He remembers the bend and tries going faster around it to spill some bricks out and make his trucks lighter. Diesel feels pleased with himself back at the yard but his mood soon changes when The Fat Controller learns of what happened and sends him back to the brickworks. Diesel does not return home until very late at night.
