The Norfin Adventures is a series of VHS tapes released under the "Norfin Trolls" branding name and were created by "Family Home Entertainment" or "F.H.E.".
A total of 3 adventures were made.
These are an official Good Luck Trolls product. Despite being licensed via Dam Things and both Dam Things and Thomas Dam were credited in the credits of Norfin Noel and Castle of Doom.
About[]
The animations were released as 28 minute stories and starred Trolls.
While the first two were released in 1993, Castle of Doom was released in 1994, all 3 stories were holiday specials with "The Great Egg Robbery" being an Easter special, "Norfin Noel" being a Christmas special and "Castle of Doom" being a Halloween Special.
Due to the way the 3 specials were produced, inconsistency exist between some names and appearances. For example the evil Dr.Doom and has deep blue/black hair in the Great Egg Rescue but in Norfin Noel he has green hair. The initial title screen of The Great Egg Rescue reveals that originally the designs of characters were meant to also be different and reveals an earlier design variant for Bogey, Aggie and Sureluck. The animation style changed between The Great Egg Rescue and Norfin Noel, and the movement and "look" of the characters changed, as the overall proportions of each characters sheet model changed.
Voice actors remained uncredited until Castle of Doom.
The series stars the Norfin Trolls "Bogey" (the main protagonist), "Aggie", "Herc" and "Sureluck" as they deal with the evil Dr.Doom.
List of characters[]
Norfins[]
Norfins are based upon Troll Dolls and stand about shin-height to a human according to The Great Egg Rescue. They mostly live a peaceful existence in New Scandinavia. Their hometown is Norfindim.
- Bogey; Bogey is the main protagonist of the animations, he is dressed in overalls and the leader of the group. He runs "Ink", a company a dective company. Bogey appears to be a nod to Humphrey Bogart (of which appears to be the origin of his name), who did a number of noir films and was likely a tribute to his character Philip Marlowe in the film "The Big Sleep".
- Aggie; is a blonde female Norfin and the most level-headed, she is very caring of others and quite intelligent and is part of Ink. Aggie appears to be a nod to Agatha Christie in name, while her appearance is possibly a nod to Mrs Marple, hence why English dubbing gave her a English accent.
- Herc; also called "Hercules" is a male Norfin who is physically strong and loves baking. He is the strongman of Ink but not as intelligent as the other members. He was likely a nod to Hercule Poirot, which is why English dubs give him an Belgian accent.
- Sureluck; is a detective Norfin, his name is a pun on "Sherlock" from "Sherlock Holmes". Sureluck is the brains of Ink although sometimes overthinks things.
- Dr. Doom; the main villain of the series who is constantly either trying to deal with Bogey and his friends who foil his schemes. He comes off as a scheming and intelligent Troll, but if foiled by his overestimations and miscalculations. Dr Doom had the biggest changes of the character designs between animations. In The Great Egg Robbery he has blue hair, in the latter two animations he has green hair. Compared to the other Norfins, he has long pointy ears, wears a monocle and has a light pale blue labcoat. However, he originally had a paler skin colour and his blue labcoat was darker in The Great Egg Rescue. In the Castle of Doom, it is revealed he is the descendant of Professor Doom, who was also an evil genius who created 3 monster Trolls.
- Norton: Dr. Doom's young assistant in Norfin Noel, despite working for Dr. Doom, he was a kind hearted Troll. Doom stated he was required because of his small deft hands allowed him to do accurate adjustments to Dr Doom's bomb "Big Murtha".
Other[]
- Cosmo; Cosmo is an alien who crashed in New Scandinavia in Norfin Noel. Unknowns to him he lost a part of his ship which feel in Norfindim the Norfins called "the Star Ball" on Christmas Day. It became their symbol of Christmas as a result. Eventually, his ship crashed and he was able to retrieve it, despite Dr. Doom's interference.
