The Transformers: War for Cybertron franchise was launched during June of 2010 with the release of the Transformers: War for Cybertron video game, published by Activision and developed by High Moon Studios, Vicarious Visions, and Next Level Games for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows. Two portable versions were released for Nintendo DS, featuring an Autobot campaign and a Decepticon campaign. Transformers: Cybertron Adventures was developed for the Wii exclusively. It is a companion game for Transformers: War for Cybertron but follows a separate plot. On August 21, 2012, a sequel to the first game was released, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron.
Alongside the first video game, the Transformers: Exodus novel was published on June 22, 2010. It received two sequels, Transformers: Exiles, published on October 4, 2011, and Transformers: Retribution, published on January 28, 2014, by Del Rey Books.
As of 2020, like other games published by Activision, the multiplayer servers for War of Cybertron have been shut down.
