Tom DeSanto (b. 1968) is an American film producer and screenwriter, and was one of the producers of the 2007 Transformers movie. He is perhaps best known for his work with director Bryan Singer and Marvel's X-Men movie franchise. An avid comic book fan, DeSanto owns over 30,000 comics and has a keen interest in making productions involving such properties.
DeSanto wrote the treatment for Transformers that he and fellow producer Don Murphy had shopped around Hollywood from 2003 to 2004, until it was picked up by Steven Spielberg's Dreamworks studio. DeSanto reportedly spent many hours watching every single episode of the Generation One cartoon and read every single issue of the Marvel comic prior to writing his treatment. However, this treatment went unused.
