Synopsis[]
The intense gravity of Heavy Hole pushes Toriko's body to the breaking point. Back on the surface, Komatsu makes a shocking discovery about Culter Melk's apprentice!
Summary[]
After finishing his bath, and while trying to sleep, Komatsu starts thinking why Toriko would ask him to stay behind, and what kind of job would be accomplished by him watching Melk's cutling. Meanwhile, at Heavy Hole, Toriko was completely exhausted and barely struggling to stand, as the gravity was affecting his body and brain due to accumulation of blood in his legs, stopping the flow to his brain. Falling to his knees, the knife he'd held on fell from his pocket, reminding him of his duty to protect it, as it's equivalent to Komatsu's life. He then continues his descent down slowly, as his weight was now around 1 ton. Toriko sees a rock rolling down the cliff and grasps yet another strategy; He imitates the rock and rolls down the Hole. Once more, the Knife fell from his pockets, and led him to a certain spot as he struggled to catch it; a spot full of Ruby Crabs to regain his energy. The knife had Komatsu's ingredient-sense and saved Toriko. "If something happened to me, no one'd be left to protect this knife that's equivalent to Komatsu's life."
Komatsu woke up in the middle of the night and heard Melk in the onsen. He figured it's best to prepare him a Midnight Soup to relax him. He then shockingly discovers that Melk is actually a female. Concurrently, at Heavy Hole, and after filling his stamina on hundreds of Ruby Crabs, Toriko stumbles across a giant, lvl 53 Scorpion Demon Cattle. Toriko was surprised when the beast stepped back, as if influenced by his intimidation, but soon discovered it was actually afraid of Melk the 1st, who was standing behind Toriko. The giant old man pointed to the beast and whispered some words that were too soft and inaudible. Still, to Toriko's surprise, the beast saluted in approval and quickly headed elsewhere, as if understanding what The 1st said. The 1st mumbled some words and gestures, and then gave off a last smile before heading away. Toriko was going crazy trying to hear his words. Suddenly, the Scorpion beast came running with a stone and handed it to the old man; The Speaker Stone that amplifies sounds. Using it, The 1st's voice roared, who then said his farewells to Toriko and once again, headed away. Toriko persistently followed him, saying he's got a million questions to ask. "He's got a really quiet voice."
Melk the 2nd told Komatsu her story: The 1st was feared by people as an ogre, but despite his title, he was kind enough to take a baby (The 2nd) to raise, whom he found deserted in the mountains. When she grew older, she started taking interest in his work and started watching him secretly. One day, she sneaked in and had an accident; the knives fell off the shelf and caused the scar on her face. This incident opened her heart on the beauty of knives. The 1st then started showing her his cutling process, which she learned by watching him, given that he was silent. All the wannabe cutlers failed the harsh training under The 1st, and thus The 2nd thought she'd throw away her weakness, and focus on strength. She tells Komatsu that she's The 2nd by her own decision, and not by approval of The 1st, making her a fake. That led Komatsu to lecture her on her worth. "You're the real thing, Melk-san." At the same time, Toriko had finally reached where The 1st was leading him to; his workshop.
