Jerry: I don't know, suppose we should help him.

Splinter of Discontent is an episode of the second season of The Tom and Jerry Show (2014).

Synopsis[]

Tom tries to pull a thorn out of Tyke's paw without Spike finding out, but for that, he must rely on Jerry and Tuffy.

Plot[]

Tom is dumping Jerry and Tuffy in black paint, putting them in empty tuna tins and turning them into hockey pucks. However, Tom is stopped by Spike who tells him he has a cold and wants him to look after Tyke until he's better but also make sure nothing happens to him or else. After Tom nods, Spike sneezes in his face before going to his doghouse to rest. Tom cleans the disgusted stuff off his face with a wipe.

Tom then gives Tyke a baseball bat to chew on, then goes outside and hits the pucks into the trash can as a net with his hockey stick. When Tom swings the pucks, he gets hit into the garage door causing icicles to fall on him but luckily Tom dodges them all and sighs for relief.

Suddenly, Tyke comes out whimpering. But then, Tom looks at Jerry and Tuffy, they are very cross with him, saying he's in trouble now. Tom remembered what Spike said and the canine hits the worried Feline on the head, making it look like an accordion. Tyke licks his paw which reveals a Splinter making it really hurt. Tom rushes off to stop Tyke from going to Spike's kennel. He accidentally covers Spike in snow, making him look like Santa Claus before showing him Tyke's splinter. Tyke goes crazy and bites Tom's nose, making it swollen and red. Spike assumes they are playing Mailman and warns Tom once again.

Tom takes Tyke to the bathroom. He tries to pull it out but but Tyke goes crazy and frightens Tom. It repeats, this time with Tom hanging on to a shower head before falling off. Tuffy suggests Jerry can help (also saying that Tom is not very good at this) and an offended Tom stuffs them in a plunger and sticks them to a wall. Tyke is covered in bandages with Tom trying to pull it out but Spike Knocks on the door, concerned for Tyke and threatens to beat him up. Tom begs Jerry and Tuffy to help. Spike counts to three before pulling Tom through the door. Spike then sees Tyke and the mice dressed as cowboys and Spike is pleased and apologizes to Tom before sneezing in his face, his eyes gain wipers to wipe the flare off. Jerry and Tuffy are about to pull the Splinter but gets squashed by Tom when he opens the door. The mice gain consciousness and celebrate; Tyke's Splinter has been removed! Tom is relieved and kisses Tyke. Tuffy tells Tom to thank him and Jerry but Tom flicks them across the room, making them crash into the wall. Jerry turns his head to glare at Tom. Tom laughs and takes Tyke downstairs but then he slips on a stuffed octopus, drops the pup, falls down and rolls straight through the door.

Jerry, Tuffy and Tyke peer through the damaged front door to watch Tom cleans himself off but he spots a splinter on his finger and freaks out then the door collapses on him. After Tuffy says to Jerry that servers the cat right, Tom is now covered in so many splinters so the mice offered to help because they are experts now. First, the mice wrap Tom up in tape, pull it all off making him spin and crash into the wall. Jerry picks the flat Tom, waves him around but the splinters are still on. Back in the bathroom, the mice run the bath for Tom making it warm but Jerry accidentally turns the faucet on so much, it broke off. As the water keeps running, Tom turns red and gets out of the bathtub. Next, the mice use the vacuum cleaner to suck out the splinters but they suck Tom right into it. After breaking free from the Vacuum, Tom chases after Jerry and Tuffy but he runs into Spike who confronts him after Tyke told him what happened that doesn't make him happy. However, Spike admits he was bad father because he didn't know his son had a splinter and tells Tom that he helped to get rid of it and calls him a loveable cat. To show his appreciation, Spike thanks Tom with a paw-shake but notices he still has all the splinters so by returning the favour, he punches Tom to the wall removing them all.

Spike tells Tom that this makes themselves even, says 'No more favors for you, cat' and leaves with Tyke. The mice peer out of the mouse hole to see Tom dazed and Tuffy says to Jerry "Oh, so that's how you do it.", ending the episode.
