Zhang Jiao was a medical sorcerer from the Eastern Han Dynasty and the leader of the Yellow Turban Army who takes on the form of a giant black tortoise with snake for a tail in the town of BaiJiaFang. When the college students enter the town, they head to his location (a giant yellow beam of light) initially thinking it's a distress signal. He is one of the bosses of Sega Golden Gun. Depending on the routes taken, he is the boss of either the second, third, or fourth chapter. His weak point was his head.

• Like the rest of Golden Gun's bosses, Zhang Jiao's appearance is inspired by one of the Four Auspicious Beasts from Chinese mythology and constellations. In Zhang Jiao's case, he transforms into the Black Tortoise.
  • The Black Tortoise represents the direction of north, the season of winter, and water, one of the five elements of wuxing. However, in the game, its attacks are earth-based, rather than water.
