Vol. 1 Issue 9 is the ninth issue of the first The Darkness comic series volume published from 1996. This is the second part of Family Ties story arc, first started in Witchblade (1995) Issue 18.

Plot Summary[]
The story opens up with Jackie knocked out by Tora No Shi. As Jackie tries to reach his gun, Tora attacks, stabbing him through his hand. Tora subdues him, but before he can kill Jackie, Italians surround the area.
Meanwhile, Sara waits for the police to arrive near a burning tanker. Then, Bruce Wilder drives by and asks to talk to him.
Elsewhere, in a White Bull tavern, Joe Siry with a group of renegade cops, including Jake McCarthy, plan on killing the major player in gang war. Although Jake is hesitant to join, he ultimately agrees with the plan.
Later that day, Frankie tells Jackie that he's trying to make other families sign a treaty of truce in order to put off the vendetta, Yakuza has on Estacado. Jackie, instead will need to kidnap Yakuza's boss daughter, who will be visiting a national museum.
Meanwhile, Bruce Wilder brings Sara to Kenneth Irons former apartment. He informs Sara about Joe Siry's plans and that Jake is with them.
Elsewhere, Sonatine tries to get the help of Ian Nottingham in order to gain The Darkness, but he refuses. Sonatine then uses his amulet to brainwash Ian into helping. To be continued...
