"A Brush with Oblivion" is the forty-ninth episode of Darkwing Duck, and the twelfth episode to air on ABC.

Synopsis[]

Honker notices a villainess named Splatter Phoenix making her way through the museum by way of the paintings. When Honker tries to tell people about it, no one believes him. Gosalyn gets involved and ends up stuck in a painting. But things really get out of hand when Splatter steals the Mona Lisa's smile.

Quotes[]

"Hey, Honker can't lie! I tried teaching him, but the lessons never took."
—Gosalyn

Herb: Honker, it's just not like you to lie, but until you stop, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to ground ya! No goin' out to play, no television, no food, no water, no sunlight, no...
Binkie: Herb!
Herb: What? Oh yeah, alright. Well, I guess we'll still feed ya. But otherwise, you're grounded up something fierce, and that's that.
Honker: I really let my parents down. They think I'm a liar.
Gosalyn: So what? My dad always thinks I'm lying. Of course, he's usually right.

"I am the terror that flaps in the night! I am the tube of Cadmium Yellow that is impossible to open! I am Darkwing... [Splatter Phoenix traps him in a vase] ...Duck."
—Darkwing

Splatter Phoenix: The verisimilitude of my endeavors is far beyond the grasp of your petty, little, bourgeois minds.
Launchpad: Well, hey, uh, stealin' is stealin'.
Darkwing: You may bamboozle my less than literate friend, but I'm another matter altogether.
Splatter Phoenix: I'll bypass that blind spot if you'll confront the fact that I operate far above society's simplistic roles.
Darkwing: Well, hey, uh, stealin' is stealin'.
Herb: Honker, as soon as we make bail, you're grounded for life!
Binkie: Herb!
Herb: Maybe ten years.
