Greater elemental

Greater elementals ｢上位精霊, jōi seirei｣ are a type of elementals and are born by either a medium elemental living for a long time and gathering enough natural energy to evolve or by being split off from the energy of a higher elemental.

Appearance[]

Greater elementals, unlike lesser elementals and most medium elementals, possess rational thought and firm wills that allow for the development of personality and individuality. The development of their personality leads to them developing unique and typically humanoid appearances, usually heavily influenced by the element they represent.

Characteristics[]

Greater elementals, just like other elementals, come in the variety of eight different types depending on their element. Depending on their element, there are shared "names" used to refer to all greater elementals of that element, all greater fire elementals are referred to as Ifrit for example. This does not qualify as being named. The power that greater elementals wield is immense and usually reaches the realm of Special A. Unlike Lesser and medium elementals, greater elementals are significantly more fickle in who they wield their power to. Just being liked by other elementals of that element isn't enough, if your personality isn't to the liking of a greater elemental, it won't lend you power. In addition to their elemental power, greater elementals are renowned as some of the best users of aspectual magic, with their ability to cast magic and control magicules being compared to that of greater daemons.

Pseudo Greater Elementals[]

Rimuru and Ciel developed a method to artificially create Greater Elementals whom they call Pseudo Greater Elementals ｢擬似上位精霊, giji jōi seirei｣. It is done by combining lesser elementals via Degenerate into one being and implanting an artificial personality. Only three are known to have been made: one of Earth, one of Space and one of Water-Wind.^[1]
