Behind Back Suplex is a back throw used by Michelle Chang, Wang Jinrei, and Jun Kazama from the first game onwards. It is a German Suplex, however it is not referred to as such until Tekken 4 when Julia Chang received the move under the name German Suplex. When performed by Jun in Tekken 2 and Tekken Tag Tournament, it is called the Angler Drop.
There are two variations of this move. The original move in Tekken could only be performed during a successful Spin Behind punch (the input for Spin Behind is b+2 in early games or 2,b in later games), whereas a standalone back throw was introduced in Tekken 2 where it was exclusive to Michelle and Jun, and finally Julia as of Tekken 4.
The Spin Behind variation does not exist in Tekken 4 onwards as Julia never received the throw and Wang can no longer perform it as of Tekken 5.
Before Tekken 7, this throw can cause a Floor Break. This was removed in Tekken 7.
Trivia[]
- This is the only type of back throw in Tekken, where it is exclusive to Michelle and Wang as part of a combo. Standard back throws did not make their debut until Tekken 2.
- Michelle is the only character who can perform both variations of the throw.
- Wang cannot perform a Behind Back Suplex as a standalone back throw, he has the Reverse Neck Throw instead.
- Jun and Julia can only perform this as a standard back throw as they cannot perform the Spin Behind to Behind Back Suplex combo.
- This throw did not exist in Tekken 3 as Julia did not receive the move until Tekken 4, despite having the same fighting style as Michelle and Wang.
