The Confederate Grand Fleet, also sometimes referred to as the Confederate First Fleet (though not to be confused with the other Confederate First Fleet), was the primary and strongest space fleet of the Confederate States Navy, made up exclusively of capital ships the Grand Fleet was the "brawler" fleet of the C.S.N, expected to take an enemy fleet head on and destroy it through heavy fire. The Grand Fleet was also supposed to distract the enemy and bear the brunt of the enemy's attacks so that the smaller ships of the other fleets, like the cruisers of the Confederate Second Fleet and the destroyers and frigates of the Confederate Third Fleet, could flank the enemy and surround them, engaging from all sides.
