Description

Executed by pressing Heavy Punch and Heavy Kick simultaneously, Gill raises his left arm as it surges with cryo-energy. While this V-Trigger is active, Gill's ice-based special attacks are enhanced, causing them to set the opponent in a freezing state without having to spend any bar on their EX versions. Gill also gains access to two additional ice-type attacks:
- Tree of Frost: By pressing Heavy Punch and Heavy Kick, Gill extends his left arm out toward his opponent, which causes a frozen pillar of spikes to grow from his left shoulder blade.
- Delay Freeze Lance: By pressing down, down-left, or down-right, with Heavy Punch and Heavy Kick, Gill spins and stomps on the ground with his left foot. This sets up a small proximity of ice on the ground that triggers if his opponent steps in it. The location of the trap can be adjusted, depending on which direction is pressed. When the opponent steps inside the area of ice, it detonates by summoning multiple icicles from the ground; freezing the opponent on hit.
Tactics
Selecting this V-Trigger amplifies all of Gill's ice-based attacks, such as his Cryokinesis and Cryo Cyber Lariat. While his regular Cryokinesis is -4 on block, the projectile gives Gill frame advantage while Ice of Doom is active. Even though the damage output remains the same, hitting the opponent with any ice-based attacks puts them in a freezing state. During this debuffed state, the opponent's stun meter becomes frozen as their body turns faded white for visual representation. Until the opponent lands an attack on Gill, their stun bar remains frozen. If Gill manages to stun his opponent while in this debuffed state, they become frozen while waking up. Unlike normal stuns, his opponent loses health gradually until the stun is broken. In addition, putting the opponent in a icy state can set up Gill for a Retribution hit. If he hits his opponent with a fire attack while they are in a freezing state, then the aforementioned move launches them higher, which can lead to some high-damaging juggle combos.
While his second V-Trigger is active, Gill can use several new icy attacks that also puts his opponent in a freezing state on hit. Tree of Frost, which is an attack that is exclusive to this V-Trigger, becomes his primary combo ender as it can be linked from Gill's normals and unique attacks. While it is -10 on block, the pushback from Tree of Frost makes it difficult for his opponent to punish. It can also be used to neutralize multi-hitting projectiles, such as EX Hadoken, and punish his opponent while they are recovering. Like his other icy attacks, Tree of Frost puts his opponent in a freezing state on hit. This potentially sets up Gill for a Retribution hit. If Gill hits his opponent with Tree of Frost while they are in a fiery state, then it causes a wall bounce, which can lead up to more devastating combos.
From a distance, Gill can use Delay Freeze Lance to control the space between his opponent. Where he positions the area of ice depends on which direction is pressed. Down-left places it in front of Gill's current position of the screen. Pressing down sends the trap about half-screen length. Pressing down-right shoots the lance at about 3/4 of the screen. However, the trap is triggered if either Gill or his opponent steps inside the area of ice. The explosion also gives Gill tremendous frame advantage. On hit, it temporarily freezes the opponent, making Delay Freeze Lance a terrific way to start off combos. If Gill scores a Retribution hit with this attack, it puts the opponent in a crumple state. Not only does this open them up for a damaging combo, but it allows Gill to dictate what debuffed state to put them in. He can proceed with another ice attack to freeze them or use an EX fire attack to put them in a burning state for another Retribution opportunity.
