Description

Vs190426-038

Cody using EX Bad Stone against Ibuki.

Executed by performing a quarter-circle forward motion and pressing punch, Cody picks up and throws a stone in a descending arc at the opponent. The player can also hold the punch button after performing the attack, which causes Cody to toss them in his hand, delaying the throw. It acts as a projectile for Cody, as it has the ability to stop other projectiles. Once Cody is equipped with the knife, the move changes to the Knife Throw. The knife can also be delayed and stops other projectiles just like the stone, but travels linear and slightly faster, somewhat like a javelin, but is also slightly weaker.

The arc length (for the stone) and throw speed (for the knife) are determined by the punch button pressed, with heavier punches meaning longer arc and faster speed.

The EX Special version introduced in Super Street Fighter IV has Cody perform a much faster throw; the stone hits twice and leaves Cody at a good amount of frame advantage, while the knife deals nearly thrice the damage.

In Street Fighter V, Bad Stone is replaced with Cody's newest projectile, Tornado Sweep. Additionally, his Knife Throw and attacks are part of his first V-Trigger, while the stones remain part of his second V-Trigger.

Tactics

Vs190426-042

The throw can be delayed in order to trick an opponent into jumping for mistake, or to make the attack less predictable. The stone's downwards arc trajectory covers a long distance, making it great for hitting far and/or crouching opponents; the knife's speed and horizontal flight can be used to quickly poke at the opponent from afar or hit an airborne opponent (though this requires precise timing).
