Story[]

As a strange Zone suddenly opens in Mobius, Sonic the Hedgehog is distracted by the appearance of a Smart missile pursuing him through the streets of the Metropolis Zone. When Sonic realises he can't shake off the homing missile, he gives in. In turn, the missile warns him that he solve a series of rhymes sent by The Trickster or the missile will detonate. The first rhyme, "The villains you face end up in this place", easily leads Sonic to Metropolis City High Security Prison. The missile then gives Sonic a second puzzle, but doesn't give Sonic time to solve it before freeing Mr Fry from his cell. The pair fight but the hedgehog easily gets the better of Fry and knocks him out. As Sonic moves on to the Metropolis City Scrapyard, Tekno the Canary is busy discovering a new Zone from her workshop. Sonic is soon forced to battle a new robot created by parts of others (including the head of a Metallix Mark 3 but easily defeats the reject. Finally, Sonic is given a chance to defuse the Smart missile, but only has a 50/50 chance to cut the correct wire. Fortunately, Tekno arrives and shuts it down with a special frequency and leads Sonic into The Trickster's home.

Inside the strange world, the heroes are greeted by a video of The Trickster. To find him, the pair must delve deeper into the secret Zone by following a train track. Along the way, they discover giant toys inherited from his wealthy father (a toy-maker). Suddenly, they are forced to act when a train narrowly misses running them over and the other toys spring to life in order to destroy them. With only a catapult remaining, Tekno accidentally rhymes a line to Sonic, convincing him that she is actually The Trickster in disguise. Put in direct danger, he reveals himself and shows Sonic that Tekno was captured when she hacked into the Zone. The pair are given ten seconds to return to the Metropolis Zone before The Trickster seals the Zone off from the outside world forever. They make it, but Tekno can't resist one more rhyme.

Trivia[]

  • This is Jim Alexander's only contribution.
  • Mister Fry's appearance is an error: it was New Tek City he was locked up in (and why is he Fry and not Proctor Speckle?).
  • A toy bear that attack Sonic is an obvious parody of Winnie the Pooh.
