Chicken

Chickens are animals that live on Mobius and often have to be rescued from Badnik prisons by Sonic the Hedgehog. Earliest seen chickens are based on the freed animals from the Sonic the Hedgehog games (often called Cucky or Chirps) and these ones are usually found in the Green Hill Zone (later in the Emerald Hill Zone as one of the Emerald Hill folk). Unlike Sally Acorn, Johnny Lightfoot and Porker Lewis, chickens have never been elevated beyond a minor background character and have suitably few lines with which to make an impression.

A chicken that has a larger part is Dog in the Pirate S.T.C. story. Dog lives with the other protagonists and loves nothing more than watching TV. He is soon dragged into the television and forced to become strong by battling Granee 8 Ball, among other threats. He is eventually eaten by Kebabvan, but the latter rescues him when Fezhead sprays love spray on the area. Dog only speaks English because Japanese is harder to learn.

Elsewhere on Mobius, Doctor Robotnik has been seen to be eating chicken drumsticks in his distant dimension in Night Terrors!, suggesting that Mobian animals are a food source just like on Earth. Hercules also enjoyed a drumstick in The Thirteenth Task, but had eaten a few too many and got trapped wind.

Clucker is a Badnik based on a chicken. It is stationed on the now-abandoned Wing Fortress and occupies a turret that shoots at bypassers. Since Clucker cannot leave its turret, any surviving models (before the electromagnetic pulse) will have been stuck on the Wing Fortress. They have not been used anywhere else for this reason.
