Dropoff of clearer images[]

Whoops, I intended to replace an old image with a better one, instead I pasted it right smack dab in the middle of the page. I'll attempt to erase it.

Bantha68 08:23, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

I've uploaded a clearer version of the Sullustan Mechanic jpeg from my original file. The scans I've found about Wookieepedia are often a little garbled with the printing patterns visible, which make me wince a little since I have some clearer files available. Hopefully it will be of use to JMAS or others to replace the original scan if they so wish. I'll see if I can make some more available if so desired. All files are copyrighted by LucasFilm and Wizards of the Coast, but under the contract, I'm free to put them up for promotional purposes on my website (not up there yet). Hence, they definitely qualify as "fair use".

Jedi Landing on Mining Center
  • Thanks for uploading these cleaner and sharper images, Mark. It is also interesting to hear the creative process behind these images, such as the Duros thug! What about this image? Was it of any particular planet or one you created? Are those jelly-fish creatures just wild or perhaps intelligent? (Probably wild, but you never know, right?) What about the Nova-class battle cruiser? Is that meant to be Luke boarding it as in the events of The Courtship of Princess Leia or just an unidentified X-wing? --Eyrezer 13:09, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
    • Thanks, Eyrezer. Paraphrasing the info from the original art description of the image "Landing at Mining Center" (no specific name given for the planet, it was done way before Mustafar was introduced); it's Obi-Wan's starfighter flying through a "volcanic landscape", heading towards a rusting "mining complex", avoiding some "gas-bag creatures" floating around the thermals. No idea if the creatures were supposed to be intelligent, but I'd like to think so. :) The Nova-class ship has it's own squadron of X-wings (I'm assuming from the technology trade with the New Republic), and I had the green logo on the nose of the Nova-class ship (not canonical) also on the S-foils of the fighters. You just can't see, because the two foreground X-wings got lopped off when the image was edited for the book. -- Bantha68 20:08, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

Hapan Battle Dragon image update[]

I've uploaded the image of the Hapan Battle Dragon Image_talk:Hapan_Battledragon.jpg from the source file, which is intended to replace a scan from a book . I've tried to make it look like the original entry in the RPG. I'm keeping the file at 599 pixels high to fit in with the original article but no more since it's a little clearer anyway and I don't want the image printable. The only editorial change is that I restored the second background ship that was chopped off when the book was edited for publication. If this skirts too close to "fanon" and isn't canonical enough to the original entry, let me know and I'll nix it. -- Bantha68 22:58, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

  • We have images from other artists, usually from their websites (Jeff Carlisle, Dave Seeley etc.), so this should be fine. I scanned the originals from my own copy of SOTG07, but this is much clearer. Nice to see art that makes various things look more in-tune with the films. :) VT-16 08:22, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

I've updated the image page of the Hapan Battle Dragon as being near the Transitory Mists. Although it wasn't specifically asked for in the art description when assigned the piece, my research of Hapes through the Wookieepedia brought up that the area was dense with stars and the presence of the Mists. I assumed the Mists may have been externally lit up (like a nebula) from the stars nearby, hence the bright colors. Color was conjectural. --Bantha68 23:23, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

Ginivex-class Starfighter image update[]

I've dropped off a cleaner image of the Ginivex-class starfighter from my files. The only background info I have is that when I originally made the image, the laser cannons firing green bolts, not knowing the animation from the Clone Wars cartoon had them as red. It was edited as red before the image was published. It may be a little difficult to see, but I did add Asajj Ventress in the cockpit, even if you can't see her head. I altered the picture to red bolts to match how the image looked in the book, and restored my signature in the corner, which got cut off. --Bantha68 09:33, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

  • Thanks again for all these great uploads. As I see your additions, I'm putting your uploads into the article and marking the originals for deletion. - JMAS Hey, it's me! 13:29, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
    • Lol, I was a little confused there for a moment. Is Starships of the Galaxy your first foray into Star Wars publications? And out of curiosity, how did you discover the Wookieepedia? --Eyrezer 00:16, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

Rodian in a fight[]

I know I'm lessening the chance of the image getting used in an article, but I wanted to let you know that the purple mark on his cheek isn't a birthmark, it's a bruise (as per the original art description). The bandage on his arm and even the Aurebesh writing on the screens (his medical log) further note that he'd just gotten into a tussle. --Bantha68 20:48, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

  • Ah, I figured as much. It looked like a bruise to me. Enochf (or was it Eyrezer?) was the one who originally made the article and assumed the mark was a birthmark. Trak Nar Ramble on 02:09, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
    • Lol, that's funny. I saw that the image was uploaded but not placed in an article so thought I'd create one for birth mark, specifically for the image! Seeing as I have one myself, I thought it'd be the perfect opportunity. Oh, well. --Eyrezer 05:18, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Emerald City[]

Gotta ask Mark, since I see you are native to the Emerald City as I am. I wasn't able to make it this year, but do you attend the Emerald City ComiCon? If so, I'll definitely make a point next year of swing by to say hi and get a piece of your work signed. - JMAS Hey, it's me! 05:45, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

  • I'll try to next year, and I'll make sure to bring some Star Wars stuff this time! --Bantha68 06:02, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Image information[]

Hi Mark. I'm wondering about this File:Water city.jpg. Could you provide any context or design notes for it? I ask because it is currently being used to represent a battle on Mon Calamari. --Eyrezer 22:37, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

  • Nope, nothing mentioned in the art description at least. It was just titled "bombing run". Since there were only two major battles, I still think it's appropriate, though. It just describes three TIE bombers hitting a floating Mon Calamari city. --Bantha68 23:18, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
    • Well, that at least confirms that it is an image of Mon Calamari. Cheers, --Eyrezer 15:31, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
      • I've put up another page with a clearer version of the image. --Bantha68 22:19, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the picture update![]

It's much appreciated. 8) VT-16 11:06, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

Sources[]

Hey, you don't need to add the year of publication next to sources. And nice artwork, BTW. Grand Moff Tranner Imperial Department of Military Research (Comlink) 21:12, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

  • I see, I copied the text info from another page. It looks like many other pages have the year info that might need to be stripped out. Bantha68 21:19, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

CR-20 image upload[]

  • Hey, JMAS. I've uploaded a copy of the digital version of the CR-20 vs Porax 38 picture from the The Clone Wars Campaign Guide. The lower-resolution version looks almost like the one that you'd scanned, though. Just a little cooler. One thing I've noticed is that the preview strips the ICC profile from the image, and the higher-resolution version has more of the intended original colors, so the preview is pretty drab in comparison. I think your scan is fine, so use this image only if you think it's better. Mark Bantha68 03:35, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
    • Thanks for the new images you're uploading, Mark. But you don't need to upload them with a new file name. On the original image file, there is a link that says "Upload a new version of this image" which you can use to simply overwrite the old version. :) - JMAS Hey, it's me! 03:28, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
      • Okay, I didn't want to get rid of your old image since it looks pretty much the same (at least the preview does) & I wanted to give you the option. Bantha68 03:40, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
        • Yours still looks better, less JPG artifacts. I've marked the one I uploaded for deletion. - JMAS Hey, it's me! 04:24, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
