Hey! I'm Octo. You're <insert name here>. Now that we've met, I'm a huge Star Wars fan, and you probably are too, based on where you're reading this (but hey, that's just statistics!). I dabble in both discussions and editing, though my editing has been slow lately. Perhaps I'll pick it back up again! I'd sure like to. I don't just like to watch it—I love to read and write about too! In terms of timelines, I like both. No hate toward either one, even if I prefer the Legends continuity (specifically after the Battle of Endor).
Bio[]
Aside from Star Wars, I also love learning and studying languages and linguistics, horticulture, biology (especially botany), and astronomy. I also like piano, blaming the government for everything, eating fruit and cheese (and both), cooking, and birds. I can also play video games and be funny sometimes.
Me and Star Wars (or: what you might actually care about)[]
Star Wars and I go pretty far back. I was but a youngling, no older than six, when I found my father's old 1980s Star Wars toys in his closet. From there, I was immediately intrigued! Not long after we drove down to Blockbuster to grab The Phantom Menace (a mistake to start with, I know, but my dad didn't know). We kept renting the next movie until all six were done and watched! From that moment on, I was a Star Wars fan. Though 2019 and 2022 were/are my peaks.
Star Wars is my favorite franchise for a myriad of reasons. The first is its somewhat unique genre, science fantasy. I love both sci-fi and fantasy and, in my opinion, Star Wars mixes those two perfectly. The second is the themes and story. I won't go into the whole thing, but the sheer amount of inspiration, detail, themes, and all that good stuff that went into the overall literary story of Star Wars really makes it pop for me. The third is just the interestingness of it all. It's unique. Out of all the sci-fi franchises, the planets, aliens, and overall spacey-ness of Star Wars is my favorite. Sometimes not the most realistic, but what's what us fans are there to have fun with! I'm looking at you, r/MawInstallation. Plus, the Force just makes the whole thing even more awesome in all of those categories.
I prefer to view Star Wars from an in-depth, in-universe/lore perspective. As one of many results, I also view Star Wars as a single set of historical documents - yes, both Legends and Canon. The fan is the historian, and Lucasfilm "uncovers" different documents for us to organize, interpret, and compile cohesively. My favorite essay I've written, the Fan as Historian, on this very site, goes into this theory and viewpoint more in-depth.
I am a bit disappointed with Star Wars language-game, though. But: fear not! The conlangers are here! I'm working on a fully fleshed-out Kel Dor language as we speak. I'll transport it all to a format you can access soon enough, for all three of you who are interested.

Favorites[]
Plo Koon is my favorite Jedi and character overall, as he is very wise, yet humble; powerful, yet calm. Truly a great Jedi (though too loyal to the Republic at times). He's among the most interesting looking to me, and his species and planet is interesting too. Plus, who wouldn't love his voice? I'm working on a trilogy of novels centered around him, and I think they're coming along nicely. Other favorite characters include: Kreia, who is very well written and thought-provoking, yet highly flawed; Obi-Wan Kenobi, because, well, Obi-Wan Kenobi, c'mon; Grievous, my favorite non-Force-sensitive, with a super interesting and, frankly brilliantly crafted arc; K'Kruhk, the epic legend himself; Luke Skywalker, one of the greatest characters ever; Palpatine, a perfect villain who isn't deep at all, just purely cunning and evil; Ahsoka Tano, who has a pretty great arc, and though an admittedly quite milked character these days, has a lot of interesting Force-related lore around her; and Yoda, because Yoda. I might add more on favorite planets and species later, too. I have a lot I really like.
