"This cave was established by a crazed droid engineer and served as a place to operate on his droids, making them lethal killing machines."
Colonel Darkstone, to a spacer[3]

Sardeya Elgrin was a female Mon Calamari engineer who lived during the time of the Galactic Civil War.

Biography[]

"I have three bounties on Lok I haven't had a chance to collect. You take care of them for me, and I'll split the bounty with you."
Bossk, to a spacer[2]

After the Battle of Yavin, the disbarred droid engineer Sardeya Elgrin lived on the planet Lok.[2] She inhabited a cave located in the heart of a volcano, the Mount Chaolt. There, she performed lawless experiments that would not allowed on any of the more civilized worlds,[4] experimenting to improve the droid lethal capacities.[3]

In 1 ABY,[1] the outcast Andria E'liyha tried to convince a spacer to attack the cave in order to kill the insane engineer and remove insanity from Lok.[5] Later, the Trandoshan bounty hunters Bossk and Balfur Jhcor discovered the presence of Sardeya Elgrin on Lok. Bossk proposed to a spacer encountered on Corellia to split the bounty. The adventurer therefore traveled to Lok and tracked the engineer to the cave. The spacer attacked Sardeya Elgrin and finally killed her.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

Sardeya Elgrin was a non-player character in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[2] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[6] The droid engineer of the Droid Engineer's Cave was first mentioned upon the original release of the game.[4] but was only added to the game with the "Game Update 10," released on June 2, 2009.[7]

Notes and references[]

  1. 1.0 1.1 The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
