The Oktos Route was a trade route that skirted the Oktos Nebula. It connected Nal Hutta in Hutt Space to the Trax Tube in the Kurost sector of the Mid Rim.
Astrography[]
The Oktos Route began at Nal Hutta in Hutt Space, where it intersected the Ootmian Pabol, Pabol Hutta and Shag Pabol hyperspace routes.[1]
The trade route passed through Kleeva, Toydaria and Tol Amn, and continued through the Esaga and Kurost sectors of the Mid Rim.[1] It also passed through the Cygnus Star Empire, a small collection of worlds that were situated only a few parsecs apart in the Mid Rim, just coreward of Hutt Space.[2]
The Oktos Route ended in the Kurost sector, where it intersected the Trax Tube.[1]
The trade route skirted the largely uncharted Oktos Nebula, a radioactive gas cloud located in Hutt Space. It also skirted the Oktos and Hune sectors of the Mid Rim.[1]
History[]
During the Galactic Civil War, the planet Toydaria was home to the Oktos Zone Imperial Outpost, a listening post used by the Galactic Empire, whose hyperwave signal interceptors could monitor lightspeed activity on the Otkos Route as far as Nal Hutta and Tol Amn.[3]
During the Yuuzhan Vong War, in the aftermath of their conquest of the Y'Toub system in 26 ABY,[4][5] the extragalactic Yuuzhan Vong advanced along the Oktos Route in order to attack the Toydaria system.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
The Oktos Route was first mentioned in The Essential Atlas, a 2009 reference book co-authored by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry.[1]
It was mentioned again in "The Written Word," a 2010 Hyperspace article written by John Hazlett.[2]
Lords of Nal Hutta, a 2015 supplement for Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars: Edge of the Empire roleplaying game series, mistakenly refers to the Oktos Route, the trade route passing through Toydaria, as the Shag Pabol.[3]
