- "Visit just about any world in the galaxy, and you're bound to find some variation of the meatball in that culture's culinary catalog. Doesn't matter if it's made of nerf, gornt, or even a plant-based mixture, the basic idea behind 'em is still the same: Shape some hearty ingredients into tiny spheres, sauté 'em in a savory sauce, and enjoy!"
- ―Strono Tuggs, The Life Day Cookbook
Meatballs were a type of food that, according to the Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs, could be found in some variation within the cuisine of almost any culture on any planet in the galaxy. They primarily consisted of hearty ingredients shaped into tiny spheres and served in a savory sauce. While the spheres could be made from meat such as that of the nerf or gornt, vegetarian plant-based meatballs were also an option. Tuggs included a recipe for a plant-based meatball dish that he titled Solstice Vegispheres in his second cookbook, The Life Day Cookbook, which he published at some point after the release of his first cookbook[1] in 34 ABY.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
In the new Star Wars canon, meatballs were mentioned in the 2021 Star Wars: The Life Day Cookbook, a recipe book written by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak.[1]
