The Imperial Trench was a part of Ilum where the Galactic Empire gouged out a large portion of the planet as part of their mining operations of the planet's kyber crystals. It was visible from orbit[3] by 14 BBY.[1]
The trench was later used by the First Order to house the Starkiller Base superweapon.[4]
Behind the scenes[]
The Imperial Trench first appeared in Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens[5] and was later identified in the 2019 video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.[3]
