The result of the debate was Adopt proposed policy changes. Imperators II(Talk) 10:40, January 18, 2018 (UTC)
We've fully entered the modern era of Star Wars, where we're perpetually preparing for the next big product release, be it film, television series, or other material like books and video games. With that territory comes the inevitable release of spoilers and leaked information, which Wookieepedia must be prepared to deal with.
We must never forget that we exist to cater to our readers, not ourselves as editors. And our readers deserve to read our articles and brush up on information from past material without being unduly exposed to information that Lucasfilm has intentionally not officially released yet. A recent incident in which information from Solo: A Star Wars Story leaked through reddit was added to Wookieepedia underscores the need for us to be proactive about this issue.
It has been our policy to restrict article creation for real-world material like books from future products until their production information is officially released. The same principle should apply to in-universe material. To that end, I am proposing the following policies be adopted. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 06:38, January 11, 2018 (UTC)

Vote 1[]
The following will be added to Wookieepedia:Notability policy under a new subsection titled "Information from future products" under the "In-universe articles" section.
- In-universe articles on topics from future Star Wars products may only be created once the information is released through official outlets, such as StarWars.com press releases or exclusive feature stories in outlets like Entertainment Weekly and Vanity Fair, where Lucasfilm or an official licensee is expressly providing the information. This specifically disallows information that has been leaked through unofficial channels.

The following will be added to Wookieepedia:Spoilers under the new section "Adding new information to articles" (see Vote 1).
- Plot details from new Star Wars releases like films, television series, and novels may only be added to articles upon a product's U.S. wide-release date. Exceptions include information released through official preview promotional material, such as film trailers and book previews. The following specifics apply:
- Films. Information may be added upon midnight Hawaii–Aleutian Standard Time, the latest U.S. time zone, on the day of the U.S. release
- Television series. Information may be added upon a television episode's initial Eastern Time Zone airtime
- Other material. Information for other products like novels and video games may be added upon their day of release

- How does this affect things that aren't first released in the US? Like Egmont UK produced books or any of the German comics?--ZapikCZ (talk) 17:11, January 15, 2018 (UTC)
- It doesn't. Those types of products are published without guaranteed US release dates. Most of them are never officially released to the US market, in fact. Those that are, are released a year or more later, such as with Adventures in Wild Space. Naturally, this policy wouldn't apply to such things. It's only for products that have simultaneous international release dates, where the US is included. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 17:43, January 15, 2018 (UTC)
