The Chief of Quarters was a section chief position aboard Imperial Navy starships. The Chief of Quarters commanded the Quarters section which was responsible for housekeeping and maintenance aboard the ship. The Chief of Quarters commanded a small staff of deckhands and droids that were charged with keeping the common areas and officer's quarters clean, and running the galleys and autochefs. The Chief of Quarters was the most junior section command aboard the ship, and was usually headed by a junior lieutenant. The chief reported to the Operations Officer.^[1]
