History[]
Willabella was the first disciple of Wiggly, and therefore one of the first supporters of the Lords in Black. She wrote the Black Book with the blood of children, a book of spells and incantations that calls upon the Lords in Black. Only one of these spells is known, a ritual of soul transference.
In 1824, Willabella was arrested by the Hatchetmen and convicted of crimes of witchcraft. She was executed by hanging at the center of the future heart of Witchwood Forest. The Hatchetmen planted the Witchwood by planting people who had a touch of the gift and turning them into tree-people. Their roots created a web that trapped her soul forever in the woods. She remained there until she rooted herself in Hannah Foster's mind after she was weakened by the arrest of her sister.
The Hatchetfield Ape-Man[]
Willabella is first mentioned by Donna Daggit in The Hatchetfield Ape-man. Donna says that her alleged home is the Witchwood Forest and that she is one of Hatchetfield’s most terrifying urban legends.
The Witch in the Web[]
Willabella rooted herself in Hannah's mind following the arrest of her sister Lex. She hid in Hannah's nightmare time and tried to gain control of Hannah's mind to use her as her new body. After Hannah and Miss Holloway get close to her hut, Willabella scares Hannah using the tree-people, subsequently allowing Hannah to give her power and traps her in the memory of her own death. Hannah almost dies in this memory but is saved by Miss Holloway, who puts her in her own mind.
Later, Willabella disguises herself as Lex to attempt to trick Hannah into letting her get control of her mind. However, Hannah realizes that she isn't really her sister, and the witch's illusion melts away. Hannah is then able to get her ukulele and uses it to destroy the witches stronghold in her mind, allowing Webby to return to Hannah. In response to Willabella trying to hurt Hannah, Webby destroys her souls so that she can never harm anyone every again.
Personality and Traits[]
Little is known about Willabella's personality. The witch is obsessive in her devotion to the Lords in Black and Wiggly, to the point where she died due to worshipping them.
