Development[]
The series came about as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic rendering StarKid unable to perform live shows. Episodes of Nightmare Time initially consisted of three stories with the first episode supposed to consist of three stories: Jane's A Car, Watcher World and Ethan Doesn’t Die all linked by the common theme of Blinky, however, due to the length of the episode when combined with stage directions, the episode was cut down to two stories and the order of the series' stories was changed. The episode was rehearsed once in the week prior to the episodes released. It was written by Nick and Matt Lang and contains songs written by Jeff Blim.
