Incidental 118, also known as Cop 1, Policeman 1, Cop 2, Cop 3, Cop 4, and the police fish, is an incidental character who first appears in the episode "Hall Monitor." He is classified as a secondary character-type incidental.
Description[]
He is a light teal jelly bean shaped fish with a mint colored dorsal fin and dark teal lips and eyelids. He wears a white shirt with a big gold badge on it, black shoes, a dark blue police cap, and dark blue pants that have red stripes on the sides. He also regularly carries a police baton, although he has been shown to lack it in many of his appearances. In his older appearances, his lips were originally colored mint like his dorsal fin. In his even older appearances, his hat and pants were colored navy blue. Policeman 1 shares the same appearance as Incidental 118's older colors. In his debut appearance, his badge, buckle, and hat label all had black outlines instead of their default dark yellow outlines. Cop 1 shares the same appearance as Incidental 118's debut colors.
Incidental 118 also has three different alternate color palettes that all first appeared in "Hall Monitor" which were originally considered to each be different models known as the "Cop" incidentals before being merged into a single incidental. One is colored orange with a lighter orange dorsal fin and lips. He currently wears the same uniform that his normal palette wears. In his older appearances, his hat and pants were colored navy blue. In his even older appearance, his badge, buckle, and hat label all had black outlines instead of their natural dark yellow outlines. Cop 2 shares the same appearance as his older colors variant. One is colored grayish-purple with a lavender dorsal fin and dark purple lips. In his older appearances, his lips were colored lavender like his dorsal fin and his hat and pants were colored navy blue. In his even older appearance, his badge, buckle, and hat label all had black outlines instead of their natural dark yellow outlines. Cop 3 shares the same appearance as his older colors variant. One is colored yellow with a lighter yellow dorsal fin and lips. He wears the same uniform that Incidental 118's debut colors variant wears. Cop 4 has the same appearance as him.

He has the same colors as his old colors variant with the differences being having no shirt and a pale blue buckle.
Names[]
Incidental 118 has been given five different generic one time names throughout the franchise:
- In SpongeBob SquarePants Trading Card Game, his purple variant is called Officer Dorado.
- In Topps Europe Limited's 2003-2004 SpongeBob SquarePants Sticker Album + Stick 'n'Lift PlayScape, Incidental 118B and his orange variant are collectively referred to as the O'Mally cops.[1]
- In "Growth Spout," he is called Johnson.
- In "Patrick's Coupon," his orange variant is called Officer Slugfish.
- In The Patrick Star Show episode "The Lil' Patscals," a rubber hose animation style variant of Incidental 118 is named Officer Murphy.
Role in series[]
Incidental 118 makes more major roles than minor ones, being the most commonly used police officer in the series. He was originally designed to be a group of different colored police officers who were known as the "Cop" incidentals, but they all later became merged into one character with Cop 1 being his default model and Cops 2, 3, and 4 being alternate colorations. He makes his most prominent appearance in the episode "Nasty Patty" along with Incidental 118B.

"Hall Monitor"[]
Cops 1 and 2 first arrive in a police car and ask Patrick if he has seen the maniac recently by showing him a wanted poster of him, only to have Patrick mistake the drawing as the real maniac. They then show him the poster several times only to get Patrick to scream at the drawing numerous times for their enjoyment. Later, when SpongeBob finds out that he is the maniac, a crowd of Cops 1, 2, 3, and 4 surround him attempting to send him to jail until Mrs. Puff arrives and reveals to the officers that SpongeBob is her responsibility causing the cops to send her to jail instead of SpongeBob.
"F.U.N." / Tales from Bikini Bottom[]
He appears as the police fish. SpongeBob swipes his baton from him in order to use it as a propeller to catch Plankton, he later cheers for SpongeBob getting the Krabby Patty back from Plankton, as well as making him the honorary rookie of the day.
"Bossy Boots"[]
He appears where he writes a ticket to Squidward for being naked in front of a couple after he stripped his uniform.
"Life of Crime"[]
An entire police force of Incidental 118s go after and arrest the Sneaky Hermit after he steals another crab's shell. The teal and orange variants later appear at the police station when SpongeBob and Patrick confess that they stole a balloon. They arrest them, but only for a few seconds since it was National Free Balloon Day when they stole the balloon. They then give them a pair of lollipops for them to enjoy on their way home.
"No Free Rides"[]
The teal and orange variants watch SpongeBob and Mrs. Puff fight in SpongeBob's car from their police car. SpongeBob's car then launches towards their police car and crashes into the front of their car.
"I'm Your Biggest Fanatic" / Tales from Bikini Bottom[]
He appears as a security guard who is constantly trying to keep Patrick from playing with the displays, and the final straw is when Patrick chases down Jeffrey the Jellyfish; he goes to confront Patrick.
"The Smoking Peanut"[]
His purple and yellow variants are seeing at the Bikini Bottom Zoo where Mr. Krabs nervously greets them while stealing several items at the zoo. They later appear at SpongeBob's house where they ask SpongeBob several questions about the oyster incident and end up arresting Patrick due to them believing that he was the one who threw the peanut at Clamu.
"Squid on Strike"[]
His orange variant gives Squidward a ticket for littering his Krusty Krab employee hat.
"Sandy, SpongeBob, and the Worm"[]
He is seen giving a boat a parking ticket for near a fire hydrant, but when the Alaskan Bull Worm eats up the boat he moves the hydrant over to another boat and sticks a parking ticket on it.
"Nasty Patty"[]
His orange variant and Incidental 118B play a large role in this episode. They first find SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs at the hill where they buried the health inspector and threaten to arrest the two of them. They then immediately reveal that they were just joking as tell them that they would like some Krabby Patties at the Krusty Krab. They offer SpongeBob and Krabs a ride back to the Krusty Krab while the health inspector slowly slides down the hill and stops near the police car. At this, SpongeBob and Krabs hide the inspector into the trunk of their police car with the two cops being unaware of it. The cops then drive SpongeBob and Krabs back to the Krusty Krab while SpongeBob tries to put the inspector into the freezer. SpongeBob then finds the freezer locked so he decides to hide the inspector in his hat so he can get to the freezer from inside the Krusty Krab without the cops knowing. Incidental 118 then gets a call from his police radio about two suspicious figures burying a body at a hill and asks Krabs for 86 Krabby Patties while Incidental 118B asks for a soda. Krabs gives Incidental 118B a soda but she realizes that it has no ice which causes her to go to go to the freezer herself only for SpongeBob and Krabs to prevent her from doing so. They then immediately admit that they killed a health inspector and stored his body in the freezer. But the cops then find the freezer empty and assume that they were just playing a joke until the health inspector arrives and makes moaning sounds. the two police officers mistake the inspector as a zombie and hit him on the head twice with objects. They then find out that the "zombie" was really the health inspector and SpongeBob and Krabs never killed him at all. After the health inspector reveals that the Krusty Krab passed its inspection, the two cops then go eat Krabby Patties with SpongeBob and Krabs as a celebration.
"Doing Time"[]
His orange variant and Incidental 118B are first seen straightening out a parking meter by hitting it with their batons. The two of them then arrest Mrs. Puff because of SpongeBob's reckless driving. Later in the episode he, his orange variant, and Incidental 118B arrest SpongeBob for his reckless driving, which causes Mrs. Puff to happily exclaim that she is not going to jail, but his orange variant then tells her why would she go to jail because she already did her time.
"Party Pooper Pants"[]
His orange variant and Incidental 118B arrest SpongeBob for not inviting them to his party.
"SpongeBob Meets the Strangler"[]
Several Incidental 118s are first seen with Incidental 118B when SpongeBob calls them to arrest the Tattletale Strangler. The Incidental 118s put several cuffs onto the Strangler to prevent him from escaping, although he somehow manages to escape from them shortly. A single Incidental 118 and Incidental 118B then tell SpongeBob to give them a call if he sees the Strangler again. He later appears near the end of the episode when Incidental 118B congratulates SpongeBob for putting the Strangler in jail.
"The Lost Mattress"[]
His orange variant threatens to arrest Squidward if Mr. Krabs' mattress is not returned to him due to believing that buying him a new mattress was his idea.
"Have You Seen This Snail?"[]
He can be seen driving a bus during the song "Gary Come Home" where SpongeBob and Patrick block his door with a giant sign, as well as trapping Incidental 118 inside the bus.
"Mrs. Puff, You're Fired"[]
His orange variant appears as a cardboard cutout of Sergeant Roderick's driving course.
"All That Glitters"[]
SpongeBob shows him and his orange variant his broken spatula while crying.
"Driven to Tears"[]
SpongeBob first tries to inform his orange variant about Patrick "speeding," only for him to take out his speed gun and tell SpongeBob his is going way under the speed limit, as well as calling him a tattletale. Another orange Incidental 118 is seen with Incidental 7 until he finds the shredded pieces of Patrick's driver’s license on his hand, which causes an entire police force of several orange Incidental 118s in cars to go after Patrick. They end up chasing him to the jail house.
"Good Ol' Whatshisname"[]
He chases after Squidward when runs a stop light and for stealing Mystery Man Vest's wallet. He then arrests Squidward for stealing his wallet.
"Goo Goo Gas"[]
His orange variant and Incidental 118D arrest Plankton for attempting to steal the Krabby Patty secret formula, but Plankton manages to escape the two of them due to their handcuffs being too large for him. The two officers then go after Plankton.
"Krabby Road"[]
His purple variant arrives in his police car on the night Plankton and the Patty Stealers were heading to the Krusty Krab to perform. SpongeBob hides Plankton from him inside his nose so he won’t get arrested. When the officer finds them, he notices Plankton inside SpongeBob's nose and assumes that it is a booger. He tries to tell SpongeBob about the "booger" but eventually gets disturbed by it and drives away.
"Nautical Novice"[]
He appears as the bus driver driving Mrs. Puff and her class to the Bikini Bottom Museum of Boating.
"Slide Whistle Stooges"[]
The teal and orange variants appear when an angry mob chase Squidward where they call the K-9 unit.
"Patty Caper"[]
He and Incidental 118B appear in a barrel after Mr. Krabs accuses SpongeBob of stealing the secret ingredient. The two officers then shortly find out that Mr. Krabs was the one who really stole it and they take him to judge Horace A. Whopper who orders Krabs to sell free Krabby Patties for a day as punishment. The two police officers are then seen forcing Mr. Krabs to watch the customers get free Krabby Patties.
"Ditchin'"[]
He and Policeman 2 arrest Incidental 108 for escaping his parole, and eating Quasi-Gummy Chewy Candy Fish. Later, they both arrest Mrs. Puff for ditching jury duty.
"Professor Squidward"[]
He is one of the police officers that arrest Squidward for impersonating Squilliam Fancyson.
"Truth or Square"[]
His orange variant is seen chasing a robber until they hear SpongeBob singing "Oh, Krusty Krab" and they happily skip towards the Krusty Krab together.
"The Clash of Triton"[]
He is seen first cheering when King Neptune is proud of Triton and is later shown to be part of the angry mob after he hears Incidental 49 say that King Neptune claimed that SpongeBob was responsible for the destruction of Bikini Bottom.
"Growth Spout"[]
He and Policeman 2 come to file a police report about Mr. Krabs attempting to steal her peanut worms thinking they were regular peanuts. Later, he and his partner give Mr. Krabs a ride home, thinking that he was practicing to be Santa Claus.
"Someone's in the Kitchen with Sandy"[]
He and Policeman 2 call Sandy a hairless goat. Later, they arrest Sandy for public nudity at the end of the episode.
"SpongeBob's Last Stand"[]
He and Policeman 2 arrest SpongeBob and Patrick for have a license on his sitar (actually resisting the highway project). The police then throw them out in the middle of nowhere.
"Summer Job"[]
He arrests Mrs. Puff for littering SpongeBob's letter. He then has her join a driving class for prisoners with SpongeBob as her teacher. She tries to escape, but Incidental 118 handcuffs her leg to the desk.
"The Monster Who Came to Bikini Bottom"[]
He is one of the police officers who were ordered to keep Rrarrg captive and later run him out of town.
"The Wreck of the Mauna Loa"[]
He arrests Mr. Krabs for operating the dangerous Mauna Loa ride.
"The Hot Shot"[]
He and Policeman 2 chase after SpongeBob and Tony Fast Jr. who were speeding.
"Sentimental Sponge"[]
His purple variant appears as one of the Bikini Bottom Sanitation Police officers along with Policeman 2.
"Oral Report"[]
He and the cop chase after SpongeBob who ran a red light and when they question him if he knows anything about boating safety SpongeBob goes through a long explanation of "boating safety." The police start crying and say it is beautiful. Mrs. Puff says that SpongeBob will have to go to jail and she will not have to teach him anymore. The police explain how she was the one who taught him and they take her to jail, much to her dismay.
"Sweet and Sour Squid"[]
He and Policeman 2 arrest Plankton at the end of the episode from believing that he was the one responsible for Squidward’s bad clarinet playing.
"Fiasco!"[]
He is one of the three of Bikini Bottom's finest police officers that were assigned by Farfel Bainbridge to guard the Fiasco. He also chases Plankton with the Fiasco throughout the episode.
"The Good Krabby Name"[]
His orange variant finds the graffiti advertising the Krusty Krab that SpongeBob and Patrick put all over Bikini Bottom and vows to bring them to justice but quickly decides to get a Krabby Patty first.
"Jailbreak!"[]
Two Incidental 118s appear as part of the police crew that hide inside the Krabby Patty secret formula so they can arrest Plankton and the other prisoners.
"The Executive Treatment"[]
He and Policeman 2 escort Scooter's "BusinessFish" variant from the Business Industries due to being fired, all thanks to Patrick. He and Policeman 2 later arrest Patrick due to thinking that he is a corporate spy.
"Pull Up a Barrel"[]
He appears as part of the pirate queen's crew.
"What's Eating Patrick?"[]
He is seen watching Patrick on the street with amazement.
"Sharks vs. Pods"[]
His orange variant and Incidental 118B are first seen threatening The Sharks to stay off of their turf. They later are revealed to be a team of contestants for the dance off where they show off their dance until the Internal Affairs arrives.
"Whirly Brains"[]
Patrick touches his orange variant while searching for his lost brain.
"Snooze You Lose"[]
He tells SpongeBob and Patrick (who are inside Squidward) that they are dancing in a no dancing zone.
"The Getaway"[]
Two Incidental 118s and Incidental 118B were assigned to go after SpongeBob and Sticky Fins Whiting. They also tell the views to drive safely and always wear your seat belt at the end of the episode.
"Patrick's Coupon"[]
His orange variant is seen eating at a pie shop where his police radio tells him to be on the lookout for Patrick. He spots Patrick and yells out "Hey you!" Patrick runs away and the officer goes back to eating his pie.
"Cave Dwelling Sponge"[]
He is licked on the head by Spongy Spongy before he runs. He later appears near the City Hall entrance when Spongy Spongy is found on the roof.
"No Pictures Please"[]
Mr. Krabs has his orange variant check Rube Goldfish's camera for the film of his pictures containing Krabby Patty mix before Plankton gets to his camera first. Although he finds Plankton already inside, but also discovers that there isn’t any film in the camera at all.
"Krabby Patty Creature Feature"[]
He gets dispatched to deal with an outbreak on rabid patties. Only to say that he is on his break and three patty monsters appear and start attacking his police car.
"Pat the Horse"[]
His orange variant pulls Mr. Krabs over during the horse race for impersonating a police officer.
"Plankton's Old Chum"[]
He appears on a sign that forbids chum dumping. Plankton sprays his chum at the sign which causes it to change, claiming it doesn’t care if he does chum dumping.
"Stormy Weather"[]
He is seen running away from Drizzle's lightning and gets sucked into his tornado.
"Dirty Bubble Returns"[]
He appears as one of the officers who arrest the Dirty Bubble at the beginning of the episode and later appears arresting the Dirty Bubble again near the end of the episode.

His orange variant and Incidental 118B watch SpongeBob and Patrick fly off into the sky near the end of the episode.

He and Incidental 40 are police officers who answer Squidward's report of an assault. On the way there, they realize he always calls over minor issues and duck to avoid him.
