New Mobotropolis Coliseum is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics.

Description[]

The New Mobotropolis Coliseum is a massive coliseum located in New Mobotropolis, hence its name. It can hold thousands upon thousands of guests, and like everything else in New Mobotropolis, it is made out of Nanites that Nicole can control. There is a stage in the center of the coliseum, though it can be detached and removed if necessary.

History[]

After the Invasion of the Eggdome and defeating Eggman, the citizens of New Mobotropolis gathered in the coliseum to celebrate their victory over the Eggman Empire. The Forget Me Knots were getting prepared to play some music for the audience when Monkey Khan showed up, attacking Mina with lightning from his Atom-Bat to disrupt her just as she was about to start singing. Monkey Khan expressed anger at the crowd for celebrating while there were others across Mobius still suffering from the actions of the Eggman Empire. Sonic attacked Monkey Khan and the two were about to get into a bigger fight when Sally cut them off. Sally questioned Monkey Khan as to why he was so agitated when Eggman was defeated, and Monkey Khan explained to her and Elias that the Iron Queen had usurped control of the Eggman Empire. Sally then suggested for Sonic and Khan to leave the coliseum and to go for a recon mission at New Megaopolis.^[1]

During the Iron Dominion's takeover of New Mobotropolis, the Iron King and Iron Queen set up station at the coliseum and used Rotor Walrus as bait to draw out the Knothole Freedom Fighters, which worked, as they showed up to save him. The Iron Queen then used her Magitek to fight the various Freedom Fighters, but focused the majority of her effort on Nicole, since she could control the Nanites, while the Iron King was busy fighting Antoine, Amy, Sonic, and Monkey Khan. Lien-Da then noticed that the two were on the losing end, and announced that she would take over. The Iron Queen heard this and, as punishment, activated the bomb in her cybernetics, knocking Lien-Da out. All this fighting and chaos frightened Snively, and he ran out of the coliseum to free Eggman from his cell in the New Mobotropolis Detention Center. Back at the coliseum, Monkey Khan used the Fan of Fen Xing to blast the Iron King away, and the Iron Queen was defeated by Sonic while she was trying to escape the coliseum with a Magitek-made robot dragon.^[2]

Later on, the Forget Me Knots once again gathered an audience at the coliseum for another concert, although this time, they managed to actually start playing their music. Mina's music was adored by the masses as she sang, with Sonic even mentioning how different this song was to Mina's previous music. However, Nicole was gradually able to pick up on the fact that Mina's lyrics were about Nicole's recent possession by the Iron Queen and that the song was talking about not trusting an AI like her and that she could become a threat to the citizens at any time. This greatly upset Nicole and she ran away crying. As it turns out, Ixis Naugus and Geoffrey were also present on the upper levels of the coliseum, where Geoffrey picked up on the fact that Naugus was using his emotional manipulation ability to blow the peoples' fears of Nicole out of proportion.^[3]

After the concert, Sonic and Sally met with Mina and Ash in their band vehicle that was parked in the coliseum. Sally confronted Mina about her song lyrics, accusing her of villainizing Nicole despite her doing her best to protect people during the invasion of the Iron Dominion. However, Mina also argued back, saying that she how people were legionized and that anywhere could become a prison, since the whole city was made of Nanites under her control. Sonic and Sally left the van, and the masses outside were still festering in their hatred of Nicole, something Naugus was still influencing from atop the coliseum's upper levels.

The Coliseum was seen another time when the Forget Me Knots were holding yet another concert, this time apologizing to and showing appreciation for Nicole, and demanding her exile to be withdrawn. Naugus briefly showed up with Geoffrey as a means of strengthening his public image with the citizens, although he was upset at the music now showing fondness for Nicole. Tails Doll, who was hiding under the stage, then used his power to cause the stage to collapse, right before Mina could start singing. Geoffrey accused Naugus of having done the attack, but after noticing Naugus' mutations, realized it wasn't him and helped get him back to Castle Acorn. In the meanwhile, Team Freedom helped save some of the Forget Me Knots from the falling stage debris.^[4]
