The Nerb King[1] is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. He was the former king of the Nerbs, before he mysteriously went missing following The Foreman's rise to power.
Appearance[]
The Nerb King is a standard-sized Nerb differentiated by his red fringed robe, and gold crown with a white "N" written on it. He also appears to have facial hair, something which most other Nerbs lack.[2]
History[]
Revenge of the Nerbs![]
The Nerb King met Sonic the Hedgehog and the Knothole Freedom Fighters when they followed another Nerb to the Nerberhood. Although the entirety of the Nerberhood's air and water supply were threatened by Dr. Robotnik's underground construction, the Nerb King refused to join them in fighting Robotnik, believing helping outsiders would lead to trouble. He then ordered the same Nerb which had accidentally led them to the Nerberhood to lead them safely back to the surface, which they declined. However, following Robotnik's defeat by the hands of Sonic, the Nerb King had a much more positive attitude towards the Freedom Fighters, thanking them, and even making them "Honorary Nerbs" and giving them official Nerb attire, which they grudgingly accepted.[2]
Capture and disappearance[]
Despite the efforts of the Freedom Fighters, the Nerb King and his people were soon captured by Robotnik, and forced to harvest resources for his empire. Following the end of the First Robotnik War, the Nerb King and his people were liberated, only for him to mysteriously go missing, leading to the rise of The Foreman during the Second Robotnik War.[1] After this, the Nerb King's fate is left ambiguous.
Personality[]
Short-tempered and strict, the Nerb King considered any outsiders as trouble, and strongly opposed all interaction with them. Following the Nerberhood being saved from Robotnik, however, the Nerb King's attitude towards outsiders changed, considering the Knothole Freedom Fighters as friends, despite his anti-social nature.[2]
