IHOP Restaurants LLC, its name an initialism of International House of Pancakes, is an American multinational restaurant chain primarily specializing in breakfast foods. It is a subsidiary of Dine Brands Global, a food and beverage company based in Pasadena, California.

In April 2024, Sega announced a partnership with IHOP to promote its Sonic the Hedgehog franchise until May 5. Promotions included menu items, gift cards, and downloads through the restaurant's loyalty program, the International Bank of Pancakes.

Menu[]

Following a leak posted to Reddit in March 2024,[1] from April 1 to May 21, IHOP offered character themed menu items:[2]

  1. Sonic's Blue Blur Special. Four buttermilk pancakes with double the blueberries for double the speed! Ask to try them with blueberry syrup.
  2. Tails' 2×2×2. Two eggs, two pancakes, two bacon strips or two sausage links – just like Tails, everything good comes in twos.
  3. Knuckles' Chicken Sandwich. A crispy chicken sandwich with bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado, cheese, & buttermilk ranch that won’t leave you hangry. Order with a side of “gold” onion rings.
  4. Amy's Sweet Strawberry Delight. Vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, and fresh strawberries atop a golden-brown waffle quarter is a perfectly sweet dessert for an epic adventure. Ask to try with strawberry syrup.
  5. Dr. Eggman's Benedict. A 300 IQ genius like Eggman knows that black forest ham, poached eggs, & creamy hollandaise sauce makes for a superior meal.
  6. Shadow's Chaos Chocolate Pancakes. Go ahead and be a little chaotic – a four-stack filled with chocolate chips is the ultimate pancake experience.

Two months after the release of Sonic Superstars, in December 2023, fansite Sonic Stadium reported on Twitter user Axanery, who after reviewing the source code of an update for the PC edition of the game, tweeted the apparent names of two upcoming character skins: Retro Diner Style Amy, and Shadow Costume Sonic.[3] Axanery had previously discovered a Sonic the Hedgehog Christmas skin[4] that was officially made available that December.[5] The Shadow the Hedgehog skin would be released February 15, 2024.[6]

Coinciding with the game's menu promotions at IHOP locations in April 2024, Sega confirmed the Amy Rose skin, the Retro Amy Costume, via their Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account and Sonic Superstars website as a restaurant exclusive DLC.[7][8] Through its International Bank of Pancakes rewards shop, the Stack Market, the skin could be purchased for console platforms[9] for 5 PanCoins.[10] The costume was later made available for Steam users and everyone who didn't get it originally in July 2024.[11]

Downloads[]

In addition to the skin, complete NTSC region downloads of Sonic Origins Plus, Sonic Superstars, and Sonic Frontiers could be purchased through the Stack Market at a cost of 30, 40, and 40 PanCoins, respectively, for Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms.[10]
