Oni Hanmon (鬼煩悶おにはんもん; Ogre Agony) is one of Geese Howard's Special Moves in The King of Fighters series, first appearing in The King of Fighters XIV.

Description[]

Geese puts up a stance raising up both his arms slightly to be left vulnerable. If hit by any close-range attack, he slams his opponent into the ground by their head for a hard knockdown. Like with many of Geese's moves, he will do a stance flex whenever he successfully connects with it.

The version is done in a cinematic camera angle.

Strategy[]

Since KOF XIV, Oni Hanmon is THE Super Special Move that should be on everyone's minds whenever Geese is on-screen. It activates on frame 1 upon startup, and parries every single possible physical attack in the game, without exception.

KOF XIV[]

It's biggest advantage is its power; the version does 370 damage, but if Climax Canceled into Raging Storm it does a whopping 820 damage, which if followed up with Raimei Gouha Nage, will deal a total of 920 damage (940 damage if followed up with Raimei Gouha Nage), which is more than enough to put the entire cast below 20% of health, and can instantly K.O. characters such as Leona Heidern, Kula Diamond and Nakoruru under the right conditions. This counter should be respected as it is feared.

When Climax Cancelling into Raging Storm, Geese switch sides during the move, meaning that you must reverse your Climax input in order for it to come out.

KOF XV[]

Its appearance in KOF XV is nerfed; while it still activates on Frame 1 upon startup, its active frames are now half than it once was, meaning that its use as a Reversal/Get-Out-of-Jail-Free-Card tool is now weaker. Any Raging Storm comboed from it will now be scaled down - WAY down. Despite all this, it is still an amazing a reversal tool that is totally viable.

Unlike in KOF XIV, Geese no longer switch sides until the move is finished, you don't have to reverse your Climax input. However, if you do want the side switch, you can wait a beat and Climax Cancel into Raging Storm slightly later, at which point Geese will have switched sides, while the move is still cancelable.
