"Smurfs On Fire" is the forty-fifth episode of Season 2 of the CGI TV series, The Smurfs.

Synopsis[]
When the Smurfs recruit a new fire brigade, Clumsy and Dimwitty disguise themselves to take part.
Summary[]
A normal day in the village is suddenly interrupted as Harmony loudly blows his horn. This wakes Clumsy and Dimwitty up as members of the fire brigade. Their klutziness fails to help them as well, bumping into each other twice before going on the truck. Unfortunately, their truck won't start, so Clumsy literally kick-starts it, causing it to drive away. In the process, it runs over Hefty, knocks over Farmer's vegetables, and breaks Brainy's smurfway. Just then, the truck turns around, making the two Smurfs fumble and spring on the truck. Dimwitty tries to use the breaks, which fails and sets off the ladder, knocking Handy over a house, and lastly, they hit a barrel, which catapults Harmony to the edge of the ladder. Clumsy and Dimwitty successfully stop the truck, but fling Harmony to the village bell and his trumpet gets stuffed in his face.
After nearly massacring the village, Clumsy and Dimwitty see that the "fire" has stopped and cheer - until the other Smurfs that were victims of their misunderstandings inform them that there is no fire and they are sick of their constant danger to the village. Papa Smurf's attention is caught now as Hefty says these two smurfheads are a menace and they should be replaced, which the other Smurfs agree to. Papa Smurf tries to reason with them about this, to no avail and Hefty gets the idea for a contest to replace them, once again getting agreement from the other Smurfs. Brainy recommends handing out applications, but Hefty instead opts to shout it around the village. As the decision is final, Clumsy is depressed and Papa Smurf lightly informs the two former firefighters that their decisions are at times "special" and they should probably get a new fire brigade.
Later, Hefty tells the potential firesmurf candidates that the tests will be hard and they'll have to be strong, though his monologue is interrupted upon seeing Clumsy and Dimwitty have arrived in the challenge until Hefty reminds them that they have been fired and tells them to leave.
Clumsy and Dimwitty walk from the obstacle course, with Clumsy saying it's unfair since they're not clumsier or dumber than any other Smurf. Just then, Dimwitty unknowingly gives Clumsy an idea when he claims he's gonna be something else for the contest.
Hefty resumes his monologue, but suddenly comes across a disguised Clumsy and Dimwitty. Clumsy calls himself "Acrobat" and names Dimwitty "Reindy" but Dimwitty renames himself as "Squeaky". Hefty is confused at the sight of these Smurfs until Clumsy tells him that they are always at home or in the forest performing acrobatics. Hefty buys the disguise and tells them to wait last.
The first two Smurfs up are Smurfette and Handy. However, Smurfette is much faster than Handy, since she is skilled in obstacle courses like this and she finishes in less than ten seconds. Hefty tells her she did great, but she forgot one thing - Handy, who is still waiting for Smurfette. Brainy and Hefty groan and take observations.
The next team up is Chef and Greedy, who are disqualified when Hefty sees that they spend the firefighting time cooking. Next up is the slow Farmer, who is working with one of his snails. He also ends up disqualified.
The next team up is Vanity and Scaredy, the latter of which is afraid to go up the obstacle course until Vanity tells him an ogre is coming. Scaredy is so terrified, he ends up grabbing Vanity and completes the obstacles out of pure fear. Hefty and Brainy find this impressive. Vanity believes he has won, but Hefty tells him they're waiting for the last pair of Smurfs - the "acrobats".
"Acrobat" and "Squeaky" run to the obstacle course. Through Clumsy's clumsiness, they pass the test, which also surprises Hefty and Brainy, saying the technique is unusual but it's super effective. Brainy then suggests for them to go onto the psychological test, which Clumsy fears since it means they have to think.
The first Smurfs that are interviewed are Smurfette and Handy. Unfortunately, despite promising to work together, the two end up believing that the ink blots are based off of personal interests (Smurfette liking and thinking it is based off of Smurf-Fu and Handy believing it's one of his tools), which result in the two fighting, disqualifying them.
Vanity and Scaredy are the next Smurfs interviewed. Though they get it wrong, Hefty and Brainy begrudgingly keep them due to positive teamwork.
The last group are "Acrobat" and "Squeaky". Much to the others' surprise, they get all the ink blots correct, once again leaving Hefty and Brainy impressed. Clumsy is now excited, ready to win.
Hefty and Brainy reveal the finalists: Vanity and Scaredy vs. "Acrobat" and "Squeaky", though Papa Smurf, who watches with some other Smurfs nearby, is aware that they're Clumsy and Dimwitty. Brainy tells Hefty to show the final challenge.
Hefty tells Vanity and Scaredy to follow the order: start the truck, unroll the hose, and put out the fire. Scaredy is worried about the smurftastrophes that can happen while Vanity refuses to drive the truck, claiming that his skin clashes with the red truck. Hefty responds by pushing the two Smurfs into the truck, but Vanity doesn't have much control over it. When they arrive at the fire, Vanity tries to get the hose untied until it blasts him onto his finger, which he sucks as it hurts. Suddenly, the hose sprays water, shooting Vanity into the air. He tries to get Scaredy to help but the cowardly Smurf backs away. However, he trips on one of the fire logs, and at the same time, the hose catapults the two Smurfs into the top of Chef's kitchen. The fire logs then make their way into the kitchen...
....causing the kitchen to light on fire and forces Greedy and Chef out of it. The Smurfs panic until "Acrobat" and "Squeaky" save the day with their fire expertise. The fire is put out after waiting a while as "Squeaky" puts the hose into the kitchen.
The two "acrobats" are happy to see the fire put out. Papa Smurf congratulates them and tells Clumsy and Dimwitty to take off their disguises, knowing they are disguises since they're the type of Smurfs to do this. Hefty and Brainy also congratulate the two, realizing that they're irreplaceable. Clumsy and Dimwitty cheer and dance until they trip. Papa Smurf reiterates his claim of the two being "unmistakable".
Trivia[]
- This is the first episode to air on Nickelodeon since "Souffle Shuffle". From "Smurf To The Future!" until "Dreamer: Master Of Love", the episodes premiered on the Nick Jr. block on Nickelodeon.
- Clumsy's acrobat costume is the same as his costume from "I'm Off To The Circus!", while Dimwitty's costume is the same as Tailor's design that Vanity rejected from "The Makeover".
- The scene where Vanity and Scaredy drive the truck is repeated twice, though it is flipped the second time.
- This causes an error, as Vanity's flower appears on the left side, but in the next shot, it is back on the right side.
