This category contains articles about individuals who were on the path to becoming serial killers (defined as those who kill three or more victims) but were stopped by authorities before a third murder could be committed. These individuals are tagged with the {{WouldBe}} template as a Notice box and {{WouldBeSerial}} in the Infobox.

The term "would-be" can describe:

• Someone who has shown intent or characteristics associated with serial killers but has not yet committed multiple murders.
• A person who was on the trajectory to becoming a serial killer but was prevented from carrying out additional murders, whether due to intervention by authorities or other circumstances, and thus did not ultimately act on these tendencies.

It's important to note that "would-be" is often speculative and does not necessarily mean that the person would have engaged in such criminal activities.
