Vehicle Information
Maker: Orville and Wilbur Wright
First Appearance: "Sideshow Bob's Last Gleaming"

The Wright Flyer is the first aircraft ever built.

History[edit]

Sideshow Bob stole the Wright Flyer, which had been an exhibit in an air show, after he kidnapped Bart, with the commanding officer upset as "the Smithsonian's going to hand my ass on a platter" as a result. Just then, two Air Force F-14s took off to intercept Bob. However they overshot the Wright brother's plane, so the pilots suggested they get out and walk.

Bob, holding the knife's blade to Bart's neck, planned a kamikaze mission by crashing the plane into the civil defense shed where Krusty was hiding. He flew towards Krusty's shed, humorously yelling "DIE KRUSTY DIE!!". However, the plane was mechanically unable to carry out Bob's kamikaze mission, and it merely bounced (harmlessly) off the shack's roof. The plane landed and stalled, so the authorities quickly tackled Bob and took him into custody. As Bob bemoaned his failed plan (and how clichéd the ending was), an unharmed Bart was reunited with his parents.

However, just as Bob was being arrested, an air-force operative accidentally drove a tank over the Wright Brother's plane, crushing it to bits (which is perhaps to be expected, as tanks aren't usually driven in the Air Force).[1]

Bart once dreamt time that Wilbur Wright was angry at Orville Wright, as he hasn't been able to fly the Wright Flyer yet and he thought it was his turn.[2]

Mr. Burns has the Wright Flyer in his house.[3]
