Gordon Brown's eye

I understand you believe the BBC source is reliable - but there is no mention of a glass eye on Gordon Brown's protected full Wikipedia article. It actually says "Brown underwent experimental surgery at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and his right eye was saved by a young eye surgeon, Hector Chawla" - if his eye was saved, how could it be made of glass?
