Latin names...
[change source]Hello, just wanted to point out that I am not against Latin names for animals and plants; once you communicate with people speaking a different language, they may be the only way to say what you mean. For my part, I usually create the article at the (presumably) most common English name, and then create redirects for the others (including the binominal name). --Eptalon (talk) 13:22, 12 December 2020 (UTC)
- Just another small request: When you find something listed under its binomial name, can you move it to its Emnlgish common name? - You can probably leave a redirect too...--Eptalon (talk) 01:01, 13 December 2020 (UTC)
- Oh, this is a subject with a long and contentious history in biology. The reason for having the Linnaean system at all is because of the confusion where all countries used different terms irrespective of whether of not the terms referred to the same species. It may not seem or be a bad idea to use common names, except for the fact that a species may be given 15 or 20 different names in different parts of the world. When in doubt use the Linnaean system because that way you will be understood by readers from any part of the world. You can always use redirects to the title for common names. Macdonald-ross (talk) 11:52, 13 December 2020 (UTC)
- I was considering adding redirects from every alternate name anyway once I got around to it. If things are as true as they were when I first joined, redirects are cheap. Bobo. 11:58, 13 December 2020 (UTC)

car/automobile
[change source]You may have already changed them all unfortunately so its going to be a bit of work to revert them all. But the reason we use automobile instead of car is that it is considered simplier than car. Automobile is on the Wikipedia:Basic English combined wordlist which is the list of words we try to use when possible because they are considered the gold standard of simple words. Car is not on that list. Please don't change it in the future if you see more uses of it. -Djsasso (talk) 12:22, 21 December 2020 (UTC)

[change source]Hello Bobo! The image you removed from Maibi Jagoi is its exact representation. Please restore it! :) Haoreima (talk) 11:51, 4 November 2021 (UTC)

Your change to
[change source]I saw this change that you made to Pran Kumar Sharma. If you're formatting dates like that, could you format them in the whole article? That would mean not only the entire text, but also any references and infoboxes. Thanks! --Auntof6 (talk) 00:27, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
November 2023
[change source]Hello, Bobo192! Here at Simple English Wikipedia, we use the section heading "Other websites" instead of English Wikipedia's "External links", which you used in "Manuel Lanzini". This makes it simpler and easier to read. Please remember to use "Other websites" in pages that you create in the future. Thank you for your help! MathXplore (talk) 06:10, 8 November 2023 (UTC)
Hello, I noticed that you added this to Manuel Lanzini. With respect to Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2014/Categories showing mixes of national ancestry, I have removed it from the page. You may want to take your time to learn about what happened to these categories. Thank you for your updates. MathXplore (talk) 06:16, 8 November 2023 (UTC)
I also noticed that you have added categories based on gender at Manuel Lanzini. With respect to this guideline, I replaced them to categories that doesn't specify gender. You may want to take your time to learn about our categorization scheme. Thank you for your attention. MathXplore (talk) 06:20, 8 November 2023 (UTC)
Adding infoboxes
[change source]Hello, Bobo192. Thanks for adding the infoboxes to articles here. When you copy an infobox from enwiki, please check the following:
- The infobox on enwiki might use an image that isn't on Commons. If so, we can't use it, so you need to either find a different image or remove the image code.
- The infobox might have references and/or notes. If it does and the article didn't have any before, you need to add the appropriate code to display properly.
Please check these two things in articles where you've added infoboxes (such as Harald Bohr and Katriina Elovirta). Thanks! -- Auntof6 (talk) 12:06, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
