Thanos is a fictional supervillain in the Marvel Comics universe created by Jim Starlin who was inspired by DC Comics arch-villain Darkseid back in 1973.

Fictional character biography

The character is an Eternal–Deviant warlord from the moon Titan. Widely considered as one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel Universe, he has battled the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, the Fantastic Four, the Eternals, and the X-Men. He seeks to collect the six Infinity Gems and use them for his Infinity Gauntlet.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) franchise, Thanos has been portrayed by Damion Poitier in The Avengers (2012) and by Josh Brolin in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019), as well as in the animated television series What If...? (2021).
