Giorno Giovanna (born Haruno Shiobana) is the main protagonist of Vento Aureo, the fifth part of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure franchise.
He is voiced by Kenshō Ono in Japanese and Phillip Reich in the English dub.
What Makes Him a Shonen Hero?[]
- Heroic/Honorable: Giorno has defeated Diavolo and saved dozens of lives throughout Italy by ending Passione's drug trade and has never shown to enjoy killing his enemies.
- Courageous: Giorno has been shown to be ready to willingly have risk his life and purposefully injure himself multiple times to accomplish his goals, often blocking various enemy stands with his own body.
- Stubborn: He has a very strong ambition that he self-proclaims is unable to be shattered by anything.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: Giorno wishes to reform Passione and wipe out drugs from Italy.
- Optimistic: Despite his rough upbringing, Giorno is an optimist who is generally confident that he will succeed.
- Idealistic: Despite the countless evils they performed under Diavolo’s leadership, Giorno ultimately views Passione to be as noble as the gangster who saved him, and a great part of his motive to cleanse it comes from there.
- Determined: Giorno is shown to be dedicated to his goal to become a “Gang-Star”, and resorts to every method to do so.
- Unpredictable: Giorno can come off as genuinely unpredictable to his enemies, with the best example being that while Cioccolata expected him to spare him, he ends up beating him up for 7 pages.
- Unnatural Hairstyle: The signature three rings in front of his hair which defies physics.
- Short-Tempered: Despite being calm, Giorno also inherits DIO's ruthlessness and often gives his opponents brutal deaths, famously beating up Cioccolata for seven pages and sending him into a garbage truck.
- Rebellious: Due to being a criminal, he disobeys all laws.
- Tragic Past: As a child, Giorno had a mother that never cared about him, a stepfather who constantly abused him, and was regularly bullied to the point he considered himself scum. In fact, he was believed to be set on the same path as his father. This all changed when he discovered an injured gangster and saved him. Saving the gangster would change Giorno's life for the better as the gangster became a protector of sorts for him and inspired him to become a "Gang-Star".
