About
Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion is a Japanese toy franchise created by Takara Tomy in association with the Japan Railways Group. The toys first launched back in 2015 with a tie-in manga series serialized on the Shogakukan Televi-Kun magazine and a series of promotional videos on YouTube. An anime adaptation by OLM aired in Japan from January 6, 2018 to June 29, 2019, followed by a theatrical movie in December 2019. In January 2021, a new anime on TV titled Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion Z was announced to start airing in April 2021. |

Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion THE ANIMATION is the first season of Shinkalion. It was first broadcasted in Japan between January 06, 2018 and June 29, 2019 and aired for seventy-six episodes. In early June 2019 it became known that Shinkalion would be replaced in its timeslot by a program related to the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo and thus end its run on June 29, 2019. In this turn the anime block on TBS which had also aired Kamiwaza Wanda, Tomica and Zoids, which all three were from Takara Tomy as well, was dissolved. Takara Tomy had stated that they were planning on continuing Shinkalion and that this only failed because of TBS' focusing on programming related to the Olympics, which were later delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Around two years later Shinkalion would resurface on TV Tokyo, after Takara Tomy had finished airing another season of Tomica.
