Sega Technical Institute (STI) was an American development division of Sega during the early 1990s. Founded by Mark Cerny, best known for his work developing for Atari with titles such as Marble Madness, and aided by Sonic Team programmer Yuji Naka. STI developed a number of Sonic the Hedgehog games, as well as other games for the Sega Genesis. After the project Sonic X-Treme was cancelled due to internal conflict within STI, the company was closed at the end of 1996.
