ā€œ Is that you, pretty boy? Huh?! Get out of my fucking car! ā€

ā€“Vince to Ghostface turning his car on, thinking it is Chad Meeks-Martin.

Vince Schneider was a minor character and antagonist in Scream (2022 film). He is the son of Leslie Macher and nephew of Stu Macher, one of the original Ghostface killers.

Vince previously worked with Tara Carpenter and Liv McKenzie, eventually forming a romantic relationship with Liv which only lasted the summer. More than a year later, he returned to Woodsboro to try and win Liv back and was immediately suspected as being the killer.

Vince tracked down Liv to a bar and got into a physical altercation with Liv's at-the-time boyfriend, Chad Meeks-Martin, resulting in them all being kicked out. As Vince relieved himself outside the bar, Ghostface got into his car and lured him in by revving the engine and playing music on the radio.

When Vince got closer, Ghostface stabbed him in the neck and killed him, making Vince the first character to fall victim to the fifth Ghostface killing spree, also known as the Woodsboro Legacy Murders.

He was portrayed by Kyle Gallner.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

He was born in May 1999 to Leslie Macher, the older sister of Stu Macher, one of the original Ghostface killers from 1996.

The Woodsboro Legacy Murders (2022)[]

S22-WoodsboroHigh-12

When the Ghostface killings start again, Vince appears, living in Woodsboro, much to the suspicion of Liv and her friends. Liv reveals that Vince had previously been stalking her Instagram and leaving creepy comments for her.

That night, Liv and her friends are hanging out in a bar and Vince approaches her and tries to get her to grab a drink with him, leading to him and Chad Meeks-Martin, Liv's current boyfriend, getting into a physical altercation which gets them all kicked out of the bar.

S22-VinceDeath-7

As Vince relieves himself on the side of the bar, partially due to spite, Ghostface turns on his car and revs the engine and plays "Red Right Hand" through the radio to lure Vince in. As Vince leans into his car and turns off the engine, Ghostface appears behind him and then stabs him in the neck.

Vince crawls away, but then falls to the ground, succumbing to his wounds and being the first person to fall victim to the latest Ghostface killings.

After his death, Vince is later mentioned by Sheriff Judy Hicks who tells Samantha Carpenter, Tara Carpenter, Richie Kirsch, and Amber Freeman that his body was found at a bar on Maine.

Deleted Scenes[]

Threatening Dewey[]

S22-DS Threat

In the bar, Dewey stands up for the teens and asks Vince to back off. Vince threatens Dewey with a knife, but Dewey, despite being drunk, uses a joint lock and disarms Vince, knocking the knife out of his hands in an attempt to settle the conflict peacefully. Trivia[]

  • He was described as "SKEEZY LOOKING DUDE hanging out in the parking lot. This is VINCE (22). Sleeve tattoos. Dark hair. Leering at Liv. A menacing presence" in the original script.
  • He is the first Woodsboro Ghostface murder victim in 11 years, since Trevor Sheldon in 2011 and the first in 26 years, since Kenny Brown in 1996.
  • The tattoo on his knuckle is 1428, the Elm Street house (a nod to Wes Craven's A Nightmare on Elm Street).
  • Vince's first name is a nod to Vince Vaughn, the in-universe actor who portrayed his uncle Stu Macher in the 1997 Stab film, and is the second character to be a nod to the actor.
    • The first would be Zƶe Vaughn (last name) from Season 2 (also each Vince and Zƶe were born in 1999, meaning they were each part of the same graduating class of 2017 for high school).
  • Vince is the first character (albeit second, after Samantha), whose birth year (b. 1999) corresponds to the birth year for characters of Season 1 and 2 of the TV series and of the same generation: Generation Z.
    • He is technically the first male character in the films who was born (or approx.) in 1999 and in general of the overall franchise, as stated, the first being Brooke Maddox from the TV series.
    • This means technically he graduated from high school (unclear if he was from Woodsboro) in 2017, which corresponds with the Lakewood Six group and their age-group as part of their high school's class of 2017 from the TV series (See George Washington High School).
  • In the January 27th Reddit Q&A, Radio Silence revealed his death sequence using Red Right Hand was difficult to use, as it was an idea they previously considered to use for the bowling alley scene with Sam and Richie. However, after re-shooting it with Vince, it somehow managed to work.
  • He is the only character to not appear in any official posters or promo (after Martha Meeks).
  • He is one of the few non-killers who was confirmed to be physically violent people (predated by John Milton, Haley Meyers and Avery Collins).
  • Vince's birthday, while in 1999, and his age at death being 22 in September 2022 (due to fifth film's events taking place on 26th anniversary of the original Woodsboro Murders (1996), instead of the 25th anniversary and Legacy Murders/Third Woodsboro Murders committed in September 2022 instead) makes him born in 2000 instead, in order to align with his age of death, to minimize timeline conflicts.
    • This is due to if his birthday was still in 1999, he would've died at age 23 instead.
  • Vince, in order, would become the sixth male victim in the franchise in order to be the first male victim in a killing spree, is preceded and succeeded by the likes of:
  • Like his uncle Stu, he was dumped for a jock. Casey dumped Stu for jock, Steven Orth. Vince was dumped by Liv for jock, Chad Meeks-Martin.
  • He shares some similarities with Seth Branson:
    • Both are adult men that are in relationships with teenage girls.
    • Both are dumped for jocks.
    • Both stalk their exes.
    • Both become victims of the killers.
    • Along with Eli Hudson, Sheriff Clark Hudson, Kate Roberts and Maureen Prescott they are the only victims that have family members that were killers.
      • However, Vince is the only one that has not killed by a family member as his uncle Stu Macher has been dead since the first movie and technically, Maureen wasn't killed by her son Roman Bridger, but he plotted her murder.
      • Anna Hobbs' family could technically be victims too as legend stated that she killed her family, however, Noah Foster theorized that Anna may have been framed by her stepfather Reginald Whitten.
  • Although a neck stab suggests that Richie killed Vince, as he did something similar with Wes, it would make more sense for Amber to have done the killing, as she was already in the bar with Vince, and Richie was at the hospital with Tara and Sam.
