Hollywood Horror, later renamed Stab 3: Hollywood Horror is a 2006 slasher film. It is the concluding chapter of the original Stab trilogy, loosely based on Sidney Prescott's real-life story.
This film was released in the Scream universe approximately six years after production was scrapped on Stab 3: Return to Woodsboro (2000 fictional film).
It serves as a loose, in-universe retelling of the events of Scream 3 (2000 film). It is also the first Stab film that features a known recasting, with Jennifer Jolie's murder causing the role of Gale Weathers to be given to another actress.
Based upon Gale Weathers' best seller, Hollywood Horror (seen in Scream 4).
Plot[]
Ten years since the events of Stab (1996), Sidney Prescott (possibly played by a returning Tori Spelling) is working as a crisis intervention counselor, via the phone from the safe seclusion of her home in an unknown area near Nothern California.
Meanwhile, married couple of ten years, Dewey (possibly David Schwimmer) and Gale Riley (now portrayed by a new actress) are thrown into the troublesome Los Angeles scene as a horror movie based on all their lives is being filmed.
A lunatic has gotten his hands on a copy of the script and is murdering the cast members in the same order that their characters are murdered in the movie.
But predicting who will die next is not as simple as it might seem since the producers have circulated three different screenplays, with three different endings.
Trivia[]
- This movie is based on the book Hollywood Horror by Gale Weathers.
- According to Scream (2022 film), there were two killers in the film (in-reality, there is one known killer). It is unknown who the Stab version of Roman Bridger's accomplice is. However, this is a possible nod to the original intention by Wes Craven for Angelina Tyler to be the second killer during the Hollywood Murders in the Scream universe.
- As the actors and actresses from the original third film were murdered in Scream 3, an all-new cast was needed for this installment.
- Rebecca Walters mentions Dewey and Gale were married for 10 years in this film. If this is the case, and the films did not include "time travel", the film's earliest release date was 2006, possibly taking place 10 years after the events of Stab (released in 1997, taking place in 1996) and thus, the Rileys got married after the events of the first movie possibly.
- Given the clear differences, it is possible other events in the film are different to reality as well (as seen in the original Stab including Casey getting ready to take a shower).
- The movie cover of Stab 3: Hollywood Horror can be seen at the Cinema Club in Scream 4.
- This would seem to imply that Roman did indeed betray and kill Angelina, if one believes the theory that she is his accomplice.
