Biography
Background
At some point after Gale's divorce from Dewey Riley, and possibly after his murder in 2022, Brooks and Gale met and formed a romantic relationship with each other, with Brooks eventually moving into Gale's penthouse in New York City.
The New York Murders (2023)
After she was excluded by Kirby Reed from Wayne Bailey's plan of tracking down the killer near Central Park due to not being an authority figure, Gale returned to her penthouse where she stayed with Brooks for the time-being.
Later in the evening, they receive a phone call, to which Brooks picks up, thinking it's their food delivery, but when answering the caller, finds out it's actually for Gale. He informs her about this, to which she asks who is calling. and when Brooks questions the caller, they respond saying it's the killer, saying to Gale in the process.
When hearing this information, Gale gets up and takes the phone from Brooks, questioning the caller herself and when she hears Ghostface's voice on the other line, she whisperingly demands Brooks to call the police while she deals with the call, to which he goes into a separate room to do so.
After managing to call the police and with Gale still on the phone, he returns to the living room, but when doing so, is ambushed by Ghostface (Quinn Bailey in costume) whilst she is distracted and taken behind a bookshelf, in which he is killed. Gale hears the commotion while on the call and looks back after it has happened, but doesn't think too much of it.
While getting taunted on the call, Ghostface surprise-throws Brooks' body through the bookshelf, making Gale turn back and scream in horror. After his body lands, Ghostface shows himself to Gale, wiping Brooks' blood off the knife while doing so, and chases her through the penthouse.
Brooks is later pointed out during Ghostface's second phone call to Gale, in which he sarcastically apologizes for Brooks' death, but also taunts her about it, saying his muscles didn't help much.

Trivia
- Based on Gale's indifferent reaction to his death, their relationship was not serious.
- Brooks going to get his and Gale's food delivery order is a reference to the previous fifth film, Scream (2022).
- Seeing as the mother-son duo of Judy and Wes Hicks were shown to be getting ready at their home for dinner, with the only difference being Judy wanted to go and get their sushi takeout order, instead of getting it delivered, which Wes had mentioned to his mother, before she then left to get it, before they were both killed by Ghostface.
- Similarly, Brooks' death in being stabbed and having his throat slashed, is what occurs with Judy being stabbed to death, whereas her son Wes was stabbed in the throat.
- Difference being Judy died outside her home, whereas both Wes and Brooks were each killed inside their respective residences.
- While a separate spelling, Brook's name (male) is similar to that of Brooke Maddox (female) from the TV series.
- Similar to the shared names between Quinn Bailey and Quinn Maddox, ironically, as well, the former being Brooks' killer and the latter being Brooke's father.
- Brooks is the only Black male victim in the New York Murders, which makes him the first Black male victim in a Ghostface massacre in 12 years, since Anthony Perkins in the Second Woodsboro Murders (2011) in Scream 4.
- Overall, in the films, he is the fourth Black male character to be a victim of Ghostface.
- Chronologically, if counting the deaths from Scream: Resurrection (aka the third season), Brooks would then become the ninth Black male character in the overall Scream franchise to have fallen victim to Ghostface.
- Technically the tenth, if counting Jamal Elliot, who was the first Black male character to become Ghostface (albeit the TV series version).
- Brook's death as Gale's second romantic interest, in a reference to being the second love interest of a protagonist or character, following the death of their previous partner (due to them either being a victim or killer), makes him the fifth boyfriend who was their girlfriends' second, to be killed. Of partners, he would be the sixth, followed by:
- Steven Orth (as Casey Becker's second high school boyfriend, Scream)
- Derek Feldman (as Sidney Prescott's second and college boyfriend, Scream 2)
- Christine Hamilton (as Cotton Weary's second lover, albeit technically his first known and seen girlfriend, in Scream 3)
- Charlie Walker (as Jill Roberts's second boyfriend, and the first Ghostface to be a second boyfriend to their accomplice, in Scream 4)
- Kieran Wilcox (as Emma Duval's second boyfriend, despite his role as the Lakewood Slasher, from Season 1 to Season 2 of the TV series).
- Despite being killed while Gale was on the phone with Ghostface for the first time, Brooks' death due to being stabbed various times and his throat slashed, is in reference to Randy Meeks's death in Scream 2.
- The main difference being Brooks was thrown from the other room by Ghostface so that Gale could see, as Randy's death she had found due to heading back to her and Joel's news van.
- Brooks had died inside Gale's apartment at night, whereas Randy was killed while inside Joel's van, outside and during the day.
- Reversed in that Brooks had talked with Ghostface prior, who'd handed the phone to Gale, who instructed him to go and call the police, and who was killed as he was going back to Gale; whereas Randy intercepted Gale's call from Ghostface, due to him wanting to answer the press calling her, who'd then take the call for her and who was led away from Gale and Dewey to try and find the caller and killer, before his murder.
- Brooks being shown as strong and in good physique, contrary to not being a jock, is shared among other characters in the franchise, as victims and survivors, such as Derek Feldman, Gustavo Acosta, Dwayne, Marcus Elliot, and Chad-Meeks Martin.
