Nao Toramaru

Nao Toramaru (虎丸とらまる 尚なお, Toramaru Nao) is a character in the Sakamoto Days series. She is a high school girl who is a superfan of Taro Sakamoto and was one of the members of the special recommendation group in JCC Transfer Exams Arc, joining the exam before the third stage started.

Appearance[]

Toramaru is a young woman wearing a school uniform, which consists of a white shirt with a bow tie, a black sleeveless cardigan, a long black skirt, black socks, and a school bag. She has black hair with a fringe and two long white braids. Her eyes are a light purple, and her pupils are cross-shaped.

Personality[]

Toramaru is an otaku who is a hardcore Taro Sakamoto fan before she found out his true identity in JCC Transfer Exams Arc, but she later became a fan of him again. Although she looks adorable and innocent, she can be cruel when being triggered and kill opponents without second thoughts.

Taro Sakamoto[]

In her childhood, Toramaru had met young Taro Sakamoto once during his fight and had been astonished by his calm and cold-blooded battle figure. She then had become infatuated with him and seen him as her idol. She would get mad if anyone dares insult Sakamoto.^[1]

After Toramaru was injured in the exam, Sakamoto treated her wounds and wielded the bandages in a manner reminding Toramaru of Sakamoto during his prime. When she saw Sakamoto in his current, fat appearance, however, she didn't recognize him. She struggled to believe Sakamoto's identity until the head JCC test admin conversed with him. Then, Toramaru was shocked; she felt disappointment. Doubting the admiration she held for Sakamoto for so long, she quit being his fan.^[2]

On the day the JAA chairman attended the Assassin Exhibition of the Century, Toramaru was targeted as one of X's assassins. Despite Toramaru informing him about the bomb put inside her and not wanting to hurt him if it goes off, Sakamoto chose to help her escape.^[3] Sakamoto ordered matching outfits in order to disguise himself and Toramaru, but she found them, along with Sakamoto having a kid's wallet, embarrassing. Toramaru considered dying as a fan of X^[4] until Sakamoto began to protect her from and fight off against various assassins. Sakamoto encouraged Toramaru to be her own fan, but instead, Toramaru became a fan of Sakamoto once more.^[5]

Abilities[]

• Special Weapon: Toramaru fights with a combination of a gun and an axe, which makes her deadly from whatever distance.
• Enhanced Speed & Agility: Toramaru can push a grown male to the ground and cut down several trees with her weapon in the blink of an eye.

Etymology[]

• The name Nao means "still, more/still more/furthermore, yet, greater, further, less" (尚).
• Nao's surname Toramaru means "tiger" (虎) (tora) and "round, circle, pills, purity, suffix for ship names, complete" (丸) (maru).

Trivia[]

• Toramaru has a Taro Sakamoto keychain attached to her bag.
• Her socks were originally black but got changed to white.
